   For the non connoisseur, it is a personal portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile. Its origin? The US. If someone seems to enjoy the attacks on the Syrian people it is the military industrial complex and by procuration our sweet Obama! Isn't their export strictly controlled? Any thoughts?

      Max, Explain to me why you say Obama gave them these weapons? Not being a jerk, I want to understand...Is there an article or proof? Do we know this isn't something that has happened over the decade of war in Iraq?

         Firstly as I mentioned it afore, they are American made weapons. Secondly, their moves are stricly monitored. Now explain me how sophisticated weapons as such are in the hands of radical muslims. If you are REALLY interested why don't you go and check: www.voltairenet.org?

            Max, That was very informative. I had just read a piece the other day that I had tried to post in forums but since I had to register it didn't show...I copied the whole thing over but I guess nobody ever checked it out, anyway, it was largely the same as this piece, however had no mention of the gas pipeline, and that truly explains so much. Also, the article I read claimed the Muslim Brotherhood as freedom fighters for democracy, and explained of their winning the election. I do not know anything more about them so will do more research. I also realized the pull on Syria and knew the US was involved by proxy through Turkey, although Turkey really is not seeking any trouble. However, It is extremely important that the US backs Isreal. Iran has promised to blow her off the map and that can not happen! I also realize the importance of wanting Syria to join forces with us versus Iran and Iraq; and why Obama has tried to reach agreements with Russia. To me it seems we would want as many allies as possible in the region. To me a world where Germany, China, Russia,Iran, Iraq and Syria, join forces against Isreal, Qatar, Turkey and the US, is a bad bad day! So, I have no answers, but understand the seriousness of the matter. I can understand trying to pressure Syria, do not know if it will work, but I do understand...and now understanding the gas grab, it just merely adds a financial match stick aspect to an already explosive situation....Lots to study and think about...Thank you so much for sharing!

               If you have two blocks, none of them will act inconsiderably. If there is one only, it will have the superiority and will attack impunitively any country it wishes. I personally favor the new alliance to be build against the US supremacy. It is an obligation if peace has to be implemented.

   Interesting piece of fact twisting going on here.  At its base the Syrian situation is the same as Iraq and Libya, it is nothing about freedom fighters - it is about tribal warfare that pits Sunni Muslim against a n other brand of Muslim.
   
   This situation was set up by the UK and the other axis powers when they arbitrarily divided up the country to ensure that each contained a mix of 'tribes' and religions.  The intent was to ensure that none of these countries that sat on massive oil and gas reserves could develop enough to become a threat to anyone.  This was also the main thinking behind re-establishing Israel, a cynical planting of the most hated tribe in the area right in the middle of it all.  If you want to see how this worked just go look at any map and every border that is not coastline, river or mountain range is a perfectly straight line, sometimes for thousands of miles.
   
   Now some of those countries are (or were) developed and are friendly to their eastern neighbours and not to the west, especially anti-America.  So the US has invaded the easy targets and turned their clocks back to the middle ages of competing warlords at the head of their tribes, allied with other tribes of the same religious persuasion. The harder targets are the subject of US sponsored terrorism through Saudi Arabia, the only real friend of the US in the region.  Syria especially is the target of the moment and the duplicitous US policy is to condemn Syria and demand peace there - while supplying the money and weapons to keep it going.

      i was just reading another article claiming, and this makes at least 3 articles all of diiferent country, that Al-Assad is creating a basic genocide of his own people...furthermore that the muslim Brotherhood would not stand by any longer... http://www.ikhwanweb.com/article.php?id=29641 This reminds me of Iraq and Lybia...are you saying these stories are untruths? Who is lying here? Are the people genuinely fighting for freedom and being slain? Is this all for power and product by both sides? What is your opinion?

         No question it is about power and oil.  Muslim brotherhood are Sunni Muslim (I believe), Assad and other leaders are an opposing brand.

            So this really is a high stakes poker game, winner takes all...So, the conflicting Al-Assad stories, do you believe Turkey backed by the US is truly creating the "genocide," The first article I read was explaining that Turkey had tried to take in Syrians fleeing but was being overwhelmed and over ran...This article claims Turkey backed by proxy of the US to be considering an attack on Syria, thougts?

               Saudi and Turkey both.   Turkey has always been on the frontier between Christianity and Islam and is secular country, but the Turks are 98% Muslim, I guess not the same brand as Assad in Syria.  Turkey was created from the collapse of the Ottoman Empire after the first world war and the invasion of the old Ottoman Empire by the allies - and eventual independance as Turkey with leanings toward the west and an ethnic mix from the tribes and peoples of the region that had been displaced from all the disappearing countries like Albania etc.  It has been part of NATO for over 50 years as protection against the east coming down - and is constantly jerked around by europe because it wants to join the EU and by the US through NATO.
               
               Saudi is run by one royal family and operates absolute rule by the king, and of course is totally supported by the western 'democracies' in their attacks on undemocratic states around the mid east.  Saudi, like Israel, is totally dependant on the protection of the US and so must do what they are told pretty much.

      The house of Sauds is aiming at fundamentalist Syria, Turkey saw the occasion to be a key player in the region, Qatar wishes to increase its gas reserves by exploiting Syria's, France remembered that once it was powerful in Syria as for the US the pipeline to be built is the biggest threat to its pipeline in the region.

   As you rightly said it it is a high stake game. Turkey is not powerful enough to dare to launch an attack on Syria on its own. Turkey has probably be chosen for its longer frontier with Syria and also because it is not an Arab country. So far all the independent articles I read made sense as for every actor's role and motivations
