Commercial Hub?

   Do i want my hub to be considered commercial?  Or is that a bad thing?

   Being commercial means it displays Adsense ads. Which means you can make money.
   
   If a hub has any outgoing links it will most likely be of a commercial nature too.

      I believed that a commercial hub was one that promotes websites or affiliate programs that in no way benefit Hubpages directly.
      
      Commercial hubs must display a 'high' level of ads, but you can still display ads on hubs that are not considered commercial.

            Yeah I do, it does no harm, I should imagine that 99.9% of the hubs here have that button ticked/clicked.
            
            There are a few hubs I've un-ticked it for because I wanted to focus more on eBay sales than Adsense, so I wanted to set Adsense level to medium instead of high.
            
            But yes, even if your hubs aren't technically considered commercial, it won't cause you any problems.

         That bit you've quoted is me pointing out the result, not the reason.
         
         Though as mentioned by lrohner, they've got theirs set as non-commercial and with Adsense ads on.
         
         There's no difference in result between the two.
         
         Mainly you'd untick commercial if you want to be able to set less or no ads. For instance, a poem with no outbound links with the author wanting people to read the poem with no distractions (and the served ads would probably be inappropriate anyway) could be non-commericial and no ads.
         
         As soon as theirs outbound links it's a matter of verifying each link to make sure they're not of an affiliate nature.

            Cool, thanks for clarifying, is it OK to set a hub as non-commercial to focus on eBay instead of Adsense?  I have set some hubs to non-commercial for this purpose as whilst technically still commercial, Hubpages also benefits from these.
            
            It's my belief that this is OK, but wouldn't mind confirmation that this is acceptable.

               Yes, you can use eBay or Amazon capsules in a non-commercial hub.  You just can't place affiliate or promotional links in text, link, or RSS capsules.  Most of the time, an automated warning will appear on your hub if there is a problem, but if we don't recognize the links, the warning may not appear until they are checked manually.

                  Excellent, thanks for clearing that up, whilst I don't expect to sell many $50,000.00 watches via eBay, should it happen I figured the commission from this would be worth sacrificing a few Adsense clicks for.

   Hmmmm....I'm pretty new and have the commercial box unchecked on all of my hubs. Some have the Adsense set to high, others to medium. Haven't seen any difference in them.

   Ok, I know this is an old thread.
   But I'm still a little confused.
   
   I set my hubs on non-commercial, and ad-level high. There are adsense ads on the pages. But does this mean, all revenue of these google ads goes to hubpages, or do I still get a percentage of this?

   Unless you are writing poetry or short stories I see know reason why you shouldn't set your hubs to commercial.  If you have an adsense account you will share in the adsense impressions.
