What is a "mature content"?

   In my last hub "Syria, the disinformation" illustrated with pictures of dead children that reflect the reality of the presence of mercenaries financed by the Saudis, the US..., hubpages characterized it as "mature content" and, as a consequence, was not published. My question is the following one, what does mature content mean? That we don't want to frighten the reader because he is not mature enough to bear the truth? Then why did a picture of an American father handing a AR15 to his son was the hub of the day few months ago? In the same hypocrisy, how will someone illustrate the horror of war without showing its results? Who needs to be pampered on this platform?
   Since my emails are blocked by hubpages, can you explain me, what I shall change given that I used explicit allegations? I need details!

      Although I agree that we need to be honest about war and the implications of what we do (by we I mean NATO) We also have to bear in mind that HP material will not necessarily be classed as adult, or mature material. Young kids can access this site even with parental control on their PC, and images of dead people are not suitable for viewing by minors.

   Hollie, let's be realistic this platform has nothing to attract minors. They would be more inclined to waste their time on a gaming platform or on facebook versus hubpages. Do we really need to be protect from the horrors committed by our country or do they need to hide it from us like the media? How do we fully represent ourselves the war if not through pictures? Sensitive people should be warned but I find excessive to restrain it to the whole platform! We are mature adults that can bear mature content, unless most of us are not!
   Furthermore, as cited precedently, why to accept one and refuse the other? Equality of status should prevail!

      That's not true, Maxoxam, there are articles here about practically every band. Kids wanting piercings can come to this site, there's even info for kids homework, and I am of the opinion that should graphic images be shown then even adults should be warned, too.
      
      I do read those kinds of articles, but I obtain that information from sites which are dedicated to the opposition of war- they're adult sites, for my viewing, but if my kids were younger I would not want them to be haunted by those images- they're innocents.

         Yes they can come. It doesn't mean that they will. Once again what will be the percentage of kids reading about their favorite bands on hubpages versus "seventeen" or another niched magazines or websites? Realism is required here. Nowadays kids have plenty of other choices at their disposal to limit them to hubpages is a bit reductive.

   Well, I do not want to be forced to look at pictures of dead people. Writing comes with some responsibility and in my opinion that just sensationalizes an issue.

      It definitively is your opinion. Each time I see a body, especially a kid's, anger strikes me against my government and myself supporting through taxes this inhumanity! By the way, nothing forces you to look at a hub, neither to read it. I expect from my few readers guts! Reality is harsh, do you ignore it or deal with it? I deal with it!
      It is contrary to my principles to sensationalize as you daresaid it! I would never belittle myself to that level! The truth is my motivation, as crude as it may be. It's because we have been desensitized with the horrors of wars that we need those pictures, to draw us back!

   I am not sure why you are surprised that mature content is defined by hub pages as it has always been defined right in the help section. Hubpages is run according to the notions of its owners and they have decided they don't want graphic violence--probably because this is a content site and Adsense does not allow graphic pictures.
   
   Feel free to post whatever you feel needs to be posted on your own websites

      In that case, as I said it, why boosting a child carrying an AR15 as a hub of the day? Or is there content that are less mature? In that case, what is the criteria of selection?

   Carrying a weapon is not graphic violence , dead bodies is. The policy seems clear to me. Like it or not. It is openly stated and has been in place for a long time
