I was on a different site yesterday and this question popped up when I saved a revised article.
    Have You Spell Checked this?

Although it was a bit annoying, overall it reminded me to check my work before I published or saved.

Just an idea that might help improve the quality of hubs. Perhaps it's been considered before.

Weighing in with an opinion for myself - no thank you.  I use the spell checker in FF and have no need to be reminded to take care of the squiggly red lines that show up whether I want them to or not.

At the same time, there is an awful lot of misspelled words in hubs.  It might help.

Maybe the feature could be turned off after an author passes certain milestones, like ten hubs or so.

        Maybe not.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Peg!

We are actually in the midst of beta testing a feature in the HubTool that provides contextual suggestions based on what one has already added to their Hub. At this point, there is no note about spell checking, but we're definitely moving forward with providing more tips, and we might add in notes about spelling/grammar checks as we refine the tool further. big_smile

      Hi Simone.
Thanks for your response. I sure don't like the pop up annoying stuff, but if we want quality hubs it might serve as a reminder. Doesn't mean people will use it though.
      hmm

I use Chrome, and it has a built in spell-checker. I like that.

The problem though may be the misuse of synonyms.

They're going to eat their apples there.
There going to eat they're apples their.
Their going to eat there apples they're.

No spell checker would correct this - not many grammar checkers will pick up all the errors in the last two sentences....

Now you're talking, Simey. Der grammar is always pesky.
I wondered about that too, two, to, 2.

Grammar is pesky for most but when English is not your first language it must be a nightmare.

Rosemay, I can not even imagine how poor my grammar would be in a foreign language. N'est pas?

Me too, Will. But it isn't hard to see writers who either don't have a spell checker or don't use it. For the novice writer who hasn't passed their first few hubs it might add some value to the site.
