I was on a different site yesterday and this question popped up when I saved a revised article.
Have You Spell Checked this?
Although it was a bit annoying, overall it reminded me to check my work before I published or saved.
Just an idea that might help improve the quality of hubs. Perhaps it's been considered before.
Peg
Weighing in with an opinion for myself - no thank you. I use the spell checker in FF and have no need to be reminded to take care of the squiggly red lines that show up whether I want them to or not.
At the same time, there is an awful lot of misspelled words in hubs. It might help.
Thanks for the suggestion, Peg!
We are actually in the midst of beta testing a feature in the HubTool that provides contextual suggestions based on what one has already added to their Hub. At this point, there is no note about spell checking, but we're definitely moving forward with providing more tips, and we might add in notes about spelling/grammar checks as we refine the tool further.
I use Chrome, and it has a built in spell-checker. I like that.
I dun;t see why we do nead sum speel cqeckers or them grandma chequers.
Sorrie just saw my typo - should be 'dem gradma'...

Dunt choo thunk dis will werk?
I'm ain't two suure.
The problem though may be the misuse of synonyms.
They're going to eat their apples there.
There going to eat they're apples their.
Their going to eat there apples they're.
No spell checker would correct this - not many grammar checkers will pick up all the errors in the last two sentences....
Now you're talking, Simey. Der grammar is always pesky.
I wondered about that too, two, to, 2.
Grammar is pesky for most but when English is not your first language it must be a nightmare.
Me too, Will. But it isn't hard to see writers who either don't have a spell checker or don't use it. For the novice writer who hasn't passed their first few hubs it might add some value to the site.

Just wondered if there was any point in having a spelling and grammar checker within hubpages?I raise this question because I see a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes while reading through hubs. It spoils an excellent piece of work. If people wrote their piece in word, first or...

I read in today's blog about the Automated Grammar and Spelling Checker coming in September.I like the idea of correcting errors in comments. Many times I had to delete comments that were written with terrible misspellings and very bad grammar so as not to lose search engine ranking, But I'm...

It would be nice to have just one button to spell check my hub before I publish it, instead of having to click it within the capsule. I usually have multiple capsules per hub and since it takes a bit for the ajax or whatever to load, it kind of deters me from spell checking.

Would fewer errors be made in Hubpages questions if a spelling and grammer checker was installed?Would the quality of questions asked on Hubpages be better if a Spelling and Grammer checker was installed in the questions section of one's domain? Some of my questions have unintentional glaring...

I have noticed that the spell check within the capsules does not recognize certain contractions, such as, "I've," and will underline it as an error, when in fact, there is no spelling error.

Would hubpages allow us to have a grammar checker?
