How long does it take a hub score to recover from mass following?

I followed a ton of people like 2 years ago just trying to meet a bunch of other writers not realizing that it was looked down upon... I recently followed some advice to unfollow everyone and start over. Can my score ever recover?

Disclaimer: Obviously what I did was wrong, I was just kinda new to the internet and didn't realize it was such a no-no! Please just post helpful feedback and don't attack me and make fun of me.

Your low score may be down to your subject choice. A lot of your hubs are on very specific things that probably don't rank well in searches per month. Now, having said that, I didn't spend much time actually researching this, I'm just thinking out loud. Also, do you have any idled hubs? Or ones that aren't featured? If so, it may be worth your while updating them so that they become featured.
I know that mass following can reduce a hub score, but I wouldn't think that it would stay so low, so long.... so perhaps look at other possibilities for this?

This is definitely what I thought at first, but having specific topics is actually helpful. Even with a low hubber score I still drive a very large amount of traffic every month.

Hey NotPC! Your Hubber Score can certainly recover. Large bulk followings/un-followings do cause a serious dent, but regular positive activity on the site shall revive it over time. smile

    Hello notpc,
please don't take it serious as I don't even think HP are actually clued up in what they are doing themselves, anyway I think you are brave to even mention it , and it happens to most of us except for the elites,

ps. I think HP don't help enough when one first joins I remember it was so bewildering.  2 people followed me and I wasn't sure what to do so they unfollowed me . Then some really powerful people followed me and gave me confidence and they still do today

Recently I realized that off and on people do unfollow, after first following. This disappoints me, because when I follow a person, the reason can be, the style, the content, the common interests and so on. A kind of mutual admiration is there. The same person reciprocates by following you and then one day decides to unfollow you.
This is frustrating, especially for new members.

If you follow someone, it's not "mutual admiration".   You follow a person because you admire their writing.  How do you know they will admire yours?

It's quite common for people to "unfollow".   If you follow someone, you are committing to reading that person's Hubs regularly.   So if they start to write about subjects that don't interest you, why would you keep following them?  Also, because following is a commitment, it's difficult to follow too many people at once - so every now and then, you need to review your list and unfollow your least favourites, just to keep things under control.

There are a lot of people who think following is just about being friends, which is not its intention.
