Is there going to be a Rapture?

No, there's not. The "Rapture" refers to a passage in First Thessalonians, chapter 4, which talks about Christians being "caught up" in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Many Christians believe, and the "Left Behind" books promote, that this being "caught up" to meet the Lord will occur before the Great Tribulation which is headed our way in the near future. Christians will simply vanish, meet Jesus somewhere in the air, and then return with Him to Heaven to await the end of time

But notice, in verse 17, Paul says that "...we who are alive, who are left," shall be caught up. Remember that...those who are "left" get caught up to meet the Lord.

The "Left Behind" books get their name from a passage in Luke 17 and a similar passage in Matthew 24 which talk about the coming of the Lord being like the days of Noah and the days of Lot. Matthew 24 puts it this way: "As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man...they ate, they drank, they married and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Then two men will be in the field, one is taken and one is left. Two women grinding at the mill, one is taken one is left."

"See," Rapture enthusiasts say, "One is taken, one is left...the Rapture! Jesus takes the Christians and leaves behind non-Christians!" Two problems with that interpretation: First, Jesus' coming is being compared to the days of Noah and the days of Lot. After the flood, who was left? Noah and his family...the good guys...the bad guys were taken! After Sodom and Gomorrah went up in smoke, who was left? Lot and his daughters...the good guys...the bad guys were taken! Second, remember 1 Thessalonians? It says that those who are "left" get to meet Jesus in the air. The good guys are left behind to meet Jesus.

In other words, you want to be left behind so that you can get caught up in the clouds to meet Jesus in the air and accompany Him back to earth at His 2nd and final coming. There will be no Rapture like the one the Left Behind books talk about...that view is not scriptural.

    Interesting.

God's willing, I will do one of my religious pieces on this topic.

The two previous comments dont take you seriously.  Or they dont take the Bible seriously. This is about the imminent return of Christ.

Here's what I think about being CAUGHT UP. I think the whole Left Behind series is completely inaccurate. Christ wont return until the tribulation. Meaning we all will remain and suffer it, till Christ comes and saves us.

That is an absurd notion. Interesting. But absurd. The Antichrist must be revealed first, the son of perdition. It says so clearly in scripture.

As opposed to the perfectly logical, rational idea of an anti-christ, a christ, and rapture where some go on and some stay after some one comes back from the dead 1800 years later than originally "prophesied," depending on whether you grovelled or not.

      lol lol

Sorry - lost my sarcasm smilie.

The AntiChrist was revealed many years ago. Check it out.

So the Rapture may well have also been and gone. All the signs support the notion that we are well into Satan's 1000-year rule.

Daniel 12:1 speaks of the "rapture" (535 BC) as pertaining to the children of Daniels people being delivered. These are Hebrews.Rev.chapter 7 also speaks of the rapture also all inclusive of Hebrews, 12,000 of each of the 12 tribes. chapter 14 says that these are the first fruits (144,000 Hebrews). The great tribulation and rapture happened when Jesus said that it would in Matthew 24. This generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled. The Rapture happened around 135 to 138 AD.

Gawd, you really meet all sorts in here. Did you read that part in Matt 24 that says that all flesh shall see the sign of the Son of Man descend from heaven in a cloud. His coming isn't like a subtle thing. Its a world wide catastrophic event. Bound to shake the foundations of the Earth. Trust me, the stuff you're referring to in 135AD, aint the Coming. And I prefer not to use the term Rapture. Its so New Age.

Do you ever see those signs that say "Free Coffee Tomorrow"?

That's what the rapture sounds like to me.

Mike - there will not be a 'rapture'. I know this because no decent Scottish Presbyterian would entertain such new fangled rubbish. And while I am not numbered among Scottish Presbyterians, it is inconceivable that any God worth his salt would exclude such normal folk from his harvest.

Scripture clearly teach that Christ will come back at the end of the ages but it will not be a secret return.  Sound of angels and trump of God IThess 4.

Acts 1:11 This same Jesus would return in same way he left.

How did He leave?  On a cloud with great glory.

If you are a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, it makes no difference whether or not you believe in when or if the rapture will take place. The most important thing to consider is, do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross? Having placed your faith in Him alone assures you of spending eternity with Him.  So why argue about the rapture? I do personally believe the rapture will take place before the Tribulation. I also believe it could take place at anytime.

lol That is funny Jenny.  I read the Swiss Guard were just recently issued hand guns. lol

Satan will never rule for 1,000 years.  Revelation 20:3 says "he must be loosed a little time".  We are already in the 1,000 years that the dispensationalists speak of.  Satan will rule for 3 and a half years then comes Jesus Christ and judgment day.  Jesus will not just return for 1,000 years like some dispensationalists think but for ever.  Satan was thrown into the bottomless pit when Jesus died on the cross.  Actually Revelation 20:3 proves that we are in that 1,000 year period right now.

Revelation 20:3 "And he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should no more seduce the nations, till the thousand years be finished. And after that, he must be loosed a little time."

It is written in Matt. 24:3 and Mark 13:3 that this sermon on the mount was a private conversation to Peter James and John and Andrew. What if Jesus were to have a similar, private conversation with you concerning YOUR iminant future and you wrote it down and shared it with your friends, then someone finds it a thousand years later and believes everything that you said to be true concerning their future
