How do you properly cite the music used in a video? I found the music on a "free" download site. I cited this site as the source of the music. I believe I should have given credit to the song artist. This being my first video; I am unsure of the correct procedure. I could change the citations, but it would require a lot of steps. Thanks for any input.
I think how you have it cited is fine. You have provided a link to both the photos and music. I've never converted a hub to a video hub, so I'm not certain. Love the video and music, it looks and sounds great.
Your poem is beautiful.
If you wanted to give credit to the song artist, you could add name of song/artist below the video.
Music: Goodbye Stranger/Supertramp (or give specific names of songwriters, Richard Davies, Roger Hodgson)
Thanks for your reply and I'm pleased to know that you enjoyed the video. I think I may do as you suggested and add the artist information to the video. I believe I will have to unpublish the hub and actually create a new video using my saved one as a template in order to accomplish that though. This is my first go at making a video, so I am learning a bunch with this. lol It's tempting just to add the artist information to the title of the video so as to avoid all this extra work. Thanks again for your input! Have a wonderful day.
If it means you have to redo the video, I would not bother. I thought perhaps you could add it after your tribute line that shows underneath the video itself. That isn't part of the video, correct?
I wouldn't worry about it since you did leave a link to the source of music on the video.
If you downloaded the music from a free music website, it may not actually mean you have the rights to use the music on a commercial article - if you can I'd contact the artist and get their permission to use the music, or check the fine print of the music site to see if there are restrictions on using the music.
I was afraid I would find this to be true. I bet you are correct too. It would really surprise me to find out that they allow people to play their music in a video that they are not collecting royalties from. Well...I guess I must take out the music. That's a real bummer. I wonder if leaving it in there would result in something very negative to me...like fines or legal actions? I wonder how the website I found it on can offer all that music to people? Surely they are profiting from it themselves too. How would a person even go about contacting the artist? Thanks for your comments and info.
You can go to their official website and send an email - I did this for a successful photographer - I explained why I was using his photograph - he was happy to allow me to use the photo as long as I attributed it to him....
Wow. I will give it a try. I guess the worse they can say is no....and then sue me....oh...lol. I imagine they tell you to take it down first and then prosecute you if you don't. I don't know, but I love, love, love their song and hope there's a way I can use it. Have a great day.
Yes, you are probably right, simey. I forgot that it would be used for commercial use. She could try to contact their press or media representative which is sometimes listed on the website. There may be info on the site itself about copyright.
I had to contact a songwriter's royalty and copyright organization to gain permission to use a specific photograph. I contacted their press representative. They granted permission by asking that I leave a link to their site and mention that he is a member of their organization. They also complimented me on the hub and thanked me for writing and keeping updated info about one of their successful member's songs!
This is very encouraging news rebekahELLE. Thanks for sharing. I'm following both of you people now. I appreciate both of your comments.
Glad to help, and thanks. I don't see contact info on the official Supertramp site. Roger Hodgson is no longer with the group, but he does have media info and contact info on his website. You may try to go through him and see what happens, as he is listed as one of the songwriters.
Okay! Thank you so very much for that info. I sent a request. I hope they say yes. That was so nice of you to look that up.

How did you find and get started on HubPages?
by Marian L 13 years ago
So I just had an email saying one of my hubs was substandard due to duplicate content but to be honest it is content that I wrote totally off my own back and only have a couple of facts in there that are relevant. So the question is what would you advise? Should I just delete the hub and be done...

HiThere are always several new requests that have already been answered or their answers already exist. So, wouldn't it be nice to suggest the hubs already present as answers to the request. And the hubber who asked the question should have power to accept the previously-written hub as an...

Hi Hubbers,I'm just writing my first Hub (on productivity) and realized that I could illustrate the concepts really well with a video.I'd like to post the video on YouTube (and grab the embed code for the Hub Page from there). And in the video, I'd like to mention the name of my website at the start...

Now that I have gotten up to 100 hubs, I've noticed something that slows me down and is turning linking into a burden. Unless you remember exactly how you titled a hub (more specifically, unless you remember the first word of the hub title) finding the right hub to link to can be kind of time...

A hub of mine was copied on a blogger blog. I saw the copyright symbol on my account and found the blog. Clicking on "report abuse" I filled out their form, and the article was removed in a few hours. It was very easy, thanks to the notification by HP and quick action by blogger.
