I have always been a great fan of Bollywood films. They have great story lines (great writers) but they are not promoted in UK, USA etc like other films – Bollywood is quite a big industry.

Why don’t we see them in our Cinema’s? Afterall, they are subtitled in English.

Theatre screens are usually rented out by the company distributing the film.. I'd imagine Bollywood execs figure it's not worth the price

Don't pity them. The films are not profitable in US and UK. Bollywood films have great story lines but they have to do it in Hindi language targeting a mass of a billion plus Indians.

Adding to that, many bollywood movies have been nominated for Oscar so you can understand the quality of these movies.

Bollywood movies are like 3 hours, but you get a kick out of it anyways. and they kick ass with their music, too. I loved the movie, DON.

Bollywood films are 3 h long and have several music scores. English movies are short films of just half duration. Hence to make Bollywood movies popularize in other countries esp. UK, USA or other Europian Countries , these have to to be cut short just to half of length removing unnecessary music scores.

I work PT front desk of a motel owned by Indians... Nice folks..... Funny movies.... every time the guy looks into the girl's eyes they break into a song/dance.... can't make head or tail of it..... have seen 3 movies so far... one was about an Italian dude falling in love with a beautiful Indian chick... second one was about the native indians having a cricket match against the British... most recent one.. Slumdog ... too much poverty... but they usually have predictable happy endings.

If ever you rent another one, watch Fanaa.  Its got so many twists and there is a political element to it as well. Not all Lovey Dovey. As for Endings, you will be surprised to see how this one ends. I think it will knock your socks off smile

On certain cable channels you can see Bollywood movies.  My suggestion would be to sign up for Netflix, which would allow you to order any of these movies you like.

Cheers Sweetiepie.  I order them from Lovefilm sometimes. I just wondered why they didn't show them in Cinema's. Slumdog Millionaire had such a big promotion and that's been shown worldwide but there are a lot of other indian films that are better than that.

Anyway, just a thought. Not an important issue smile
