I'm writing of scholarly examination of Freud's Psychosexual stages of development and how Erickson expanded this into the Psychosocial development matrix, is such a topic really out of bounds, because Freud spoke of the anal and genital phases?? Anyone ever run into something like this, an autobot obviously scanned for key words because I haven't tried to publish it yet, but a warning made me aware that ads would not be displayed because of possibly inappropriate content. Once this is read by a real person upon submission and they see the context will they publish it with Ads?? Thanks in advance for any insight.
Yes.
There is a good reason for it: we all depend for our income on Adsense. Adsense has rules which prohibit adult content. Adsense has robots which police those rules. The robots can't read context so all they can do is look for "naughty words" and "naughty images". If they find them, they can punish the site by suspending their Adsense account.
A few months ago Wizzley (one of HP's competitors) lost its Adsense account for several weeks because ONE member had uploaded a graphic image. Fortunately the site owners were able to convince Adsense that it was a minor hiccup and they got their account back - otherwise the site would've had to close down.
Some people feel that HubPages' filters go too far and that may be the case, but that example shows why they do it. Yes, it does mean that some worthy subjects are out of bounds, but personally I think that's a small price to pay.
It's not as if it's preventing you publishing your article - you can still publish it on a blog where the only Adsense account you're risking is your own.
If there is no actual explicit content, email Hubstaff for a manual review.
Yeah thanks guys, I did e-mail them and they reviewed it and removed the ad block immediately, thanks for the help.

A couple days back I was following a thread (Link Here) where SunSeven was talking about a hub that was taken down because the ads "started showing Google Public Interest" ads.Nelle Hoxie made a comment about how that stuff is bad and can cost you your adsense account. ...

Have any of you found detestable ads on your hubs? It is a "game" with girls in bras...how distasteful I want it off my hub...do you know if we have a say in this? It has nothing to do with my poem and is disgusting to me.

I was just looking at my adsense account info and saw something that never caught my eye before. It says I can choose between"show ads based on user interest and demographic categories"or "don't show ads based on user interest etc.."Does anyone recommend a particular setting?

i had the ads disabled on one article. This has left me with questions. There was a warning i read that if it happens a number of times that I publish content that can't host ads, that my account may be suspended. Does this also include when I publish an article such as it was - an important and...

Heads up to those applying for an AdSense account! After publishing about 10 hubs I applied for an AdSense Account and was declined due to the standard lack of content. After publishing 16 hubs, I reapplied and was hit with with the following warning as I was about to leave the HP site...

Well, that’s nice, very nice. I haven’t got a clue of what I did wrong. And after filling in the online appeal form they told me they had reviewed my account information, taken my feedback into account, but still had concluded that my AdSense account has posed a significant risk. And I have no idea...
