Removing comments from a hub

   I'm of the opinion that I approve all comments even the nasty ones. If someone is going to be nasty in a comment then they should be public and made to deal with the fall out (if there is any.)
   
   However, I've noticed that one or two of my more ..... Controversial hubs have generated more comments that have taken away from the hub itself. Where they have devolved into a discussion on something that should be here in forums or in its own hub.
   
   What I'm trying to figure out is if I can remove the comments - and my answers to them as well - if I have already approved them.
   
   One is a banned hubber anyway (not from his comments to me...that I know of) and others are trying to be respectful in their answers but I feel that the comments are actually taking away from the hubs which I think are actually pretty good and have a decent message to them
   
   Or should I just suck it up and feel secure in the knowledge that repeat visits by people in the discussion earn me impressions and therefore cents?
   
   I am an all or nothing approver and would be the same as a remover - mine, the nicer ones, the completely off topic ones - all of them will go.

      It's your page - you do what you want with it. There are no "shoulds".
      
      To delete comments just go to the hub and click deny, then delete for each one that you want to get rid of. It's that simple.

      Jlpark, if I find that the discussion has taken on a different tone or context from what's in the hub I would remove said comments. I had a hub which that happened on before. Two hubbers decided to pursue their friendship on my hub with quite a number of irrelevant comments. What I did was close the hub to new comments. I don't mind not getting comments on this particular hub.
      
      However, it's your choice to remove the comments. Bear in mind that comments add to the contents of your hub in the eyes of search engines. So each time you get a comment, Google sees that as an update to your site. If the content (comments) are irrelevant it may be a problem (this I am not sure of).

   Thanks. I'm just tired of the comments taking away from the subject of the hubs in question. Except it goes against everything I try to do here. But the hubs are being lost in the comments.
   
   Sigh. I might leave the comments until they've read my last one then re think.

   I get quite a few comments on some of my more controversial hubs, some of which really are quite nasty. However I leave and publish all comments as long as they are relevant and don't contain profanities!
   If the comments are not relevant or just out and out rude I don't allow them to be published simple as that, but they would often make for some very entertaining reading!!
   
   At the end of the day the choice is yours - do they add value to your readers?

   I think you can do it. Just click on comments, select to view the approved comments and there should be an option to delete them.

   someone(guest user) use my name to comment abusive language to my company..i advise the author to delete it but no action how can i remove that comment? thanks

   So, I complained,as these comments were becoming personal, inflammatory, and even just slightly defamatory.
   
   What did I get back? Deny them.
   
   What if I weren't as resilient as I am? What if another person has the same experience, denies every comment, but takes them to heart, and they actually do some damage?
   
   It seems that Hubpages don't like to get involved, and that it's on the shoulders of the 'bullied' to be sort the 'bully'. I complained to try and just get the people involved spoken to - not banned - so that their antics wouldn't be able to escalate on another's hub - someone who may be struggling with much more in their life, and these antics be the straw that broke the camels back?
   
   However, I am able to report again if they continue - do hubpages know how long it takes to work out where to go to complain (and yes, Help should be easy, but it's not!)?
   
   Does that solve the issue?
   (off to remove the comments section...on a hub that actually needs a comment section)

   I think that negative comments, in the form of constructive criticism, are a good thing and promote a healthy exchange and a vibrant comment stream.  Comments that correct inaccuracies are helpful, but rather than make such an entry in the comment stream, I would email the author so that s/he could edit the hub and make the correction.
   
   Crude, sarcastic or abusive comments that I've read have only made me think ill of the commenter and not detracted from the hub.  I think most reasonable people will simply dismiss such comments out of hand since they lack credibility.  I wouldn't worry about them, nor would I delete them.  Why protect the idiot; just allow him to self-destruct.

      Why protect the idiot; just allow him to self destruct - my point exactly.  I've left it up, but limited it to show the first 5 at once. And locked the comments. I will wait for a bit, and open it again
