With Changes Made to Amazon Capsules Is Editing Them A Must?

In the past, we could add up to 10 products into one amazon capsule (using specific ASINs or product links). When I opened one of my hubs a few days ago I noticed that that is no longer allowed. I believe we are limited to 1 specific item per amazon capsule now... My question is this... Since my hubs that have been published prior to the change have more than one product per amazon capsule does that mean that I now have to go through every single hub and edit the amazon capsules so that there is only specific item per capsule? And will I be penalized in some way if I don't do it? I have over 180 hubs so it will be very tedious and time consuming to go through each hub and edit the amazon capsules...

But--if you wait for it to be done automatically, you won't get to choose which products you want left, and which get deleted...just a thought.

I noticed that a while ago, too.  At first, I had to make the changes myself.  That took a long time.  As I got further down, I think a week or two later, many of them had been done automatically.

So, if I do nothing the changes will be made for me?

Yes, you do, lovebuglena. This rolled out some weeks ago, sorry don't have the forum link where we all screamed bloody murder but we all have to change our hubs. The "style tips" will let you know if you're in "violation" but not sure if you are penalized if you don't comply. It is time-consuming. The ad sizes have also changed so they don't look as sharp anymore (pixelated) which for me, ruins the aesthetic of the hub. Take a deep breath and make it work. :-(
Also, you have to keep checking them randomly because the ads will change automatically as DzzyMzLizzy says. Sometimes the product has nothing to do with your hub. Very frustrating.

Well the Amazon capsule I use in my hubs I use specific products in it by typing in the ASIN of a product. And of course it relates to the hub content. So, I don't understand what you mean by "Sometimes the product has nothing to do with your hub. "

For some reason eBay and Amazon will take out what you put in and put in something that has nothing to do with the message of your hub. For example, I put in a specific utensil (spoon) and came back later to find a a totally different utensil (a fork). I understand what you mean regarding ASIN. I've never used that.

If you let the capsule find products for you based on the keyword than perhaps it may do that. But I think using specific products (via ASINs) is best. This way you display what you want!

Thanks, lovebuglena. I will have to start trying that for specific products.

None of my hubs have been flagged for having more than one product in a capsule and I've not been emailed to edit them so wonder if I should go through with it. My Editors Choice hub has an amazon capsule that has 6 products in it but it has a very high hub score so wonder if editing amazon capsule will effect the hub now.

Existing capsules with more than one product can be left as is and they will appear as they always have.  However, if you do edit and save the capsule it will be restricted to a single product going forward.

We don't have an imminent plan to force convert existing capsules, but at some point far in the future when multiple product capsules are relatively rare, we probably will do so.  We don't want to have to support both styles indefinitely.
