You are in the top 3% of Hubbers!

   Just received HubPages Editor email telling me I had 25 Featured Hubs and that I am in the top 3% of Hubbers.
   Is that really the case?
   Only 3% get to the point of having 25 featured hubs. How many hubbers are there, then?
   I've only been writing hubs for just under 6 weeks. 25 hubs written and all are featured - so, why so few others have done the same?
   How many hubs do you have featured?
   Also, I have, so far, eleven 'Editors Choice' hubs. I was actually wondering why my other hubs (equally as good in my opinion) were not 'EC' hubs - but from seeing the email it has made me wonder whether I am a better writer than I had thought.
   How can I gauge my writing against the overall conglomeration of hubs out there?
   Since I am in it for income, I suppose the only criterion is whether I achieve that goal.
   Any thoughts gratefully received.

      I checked your hubs. You are a good writer. looks like you deserve more than being in the top 3%. It is encouraging to note that the rating of HubPages is credible. You will be a standard for others like me who are here to learn.

      That 3% surprised me when I first heard about it, and it continues to surprise me, but if they said it, it must be true.  Most people who sign on to HubPages probably sign up thinking they have to do so to leave a comment. Some have good intentions, but never get around to writing a single hub.  Then a few go on to write a few more. 
      
      I can see how 25 hubs would put you in the higher percentile, but 3% is surprising considering how there are many who have a lot more than 25. Congratulations and welcome to the club!

      I write very few articles, because I only write about things I am very interested in and have very good knowledge of.
      Basically, things I have first hand experience and knowledge of.
      That isn't to say that hubs such as yours aren't a great idea.
      They just aren't my writing style.
      So, I plod along until I make a decision on something else I want to write about, while others write ten hubs for every one I've written.
      I'll never make money on hubpages at my rate of writing, but I don't write to make money, I write to share my experiences with very specific ideas and things that other people might find useful.

         I think, from another comment made, that you fall into that category of those who do not write often, and therefore would be unlikely to hit many milestones.
         Everyone to their own, unique, way of utilising the HP platform. Each can get something out of it to their own need.

      Interesting question. Not sure what it means, yet I see it as a hubber score of 96 or greater is 3% of all hubbers. All published hubbers are 77,039 making 3% a count of 2,311. Yet, I may have drawn the line way too high regarding the hubber score. Maybe 90 and above plus other qualifiers is the key. It depends as you queried as to the parameters as well as the curve.

         I'm utilising the HP advertising platform to begin with, until the number of hits reaches a reasonable level, before I switch over to adsense. My understanding is that gaining some brand value, and some momentum, with that which one writes, is best to be achieved before utilising adsense.
         I have also yet to determine how best to use Amazon and Ebay within my writing niche.
         I've just hit 1,000 views, so, from that you can probably deduce that my level of earnings is low, but at least it has begun (and growing little by little).

      That's great you deserve it. I have 135 featured hubs but no Editors Choice, I opted out on the Editors Choice. I don't think I have ever received an email from Hubpages about my percentage.

         Ah, that's another question I have. Is it worth opting out of EC's so that all one's portfolio is under one's own subdomain, rather than being split off to HP's main domain?

      What is placement?
      I get it with the profile pic - that needs to change! It does get blocked somewhat with the hubber score - obviously did not think that one through.

            A bit of both, I suppose - one didn't work and the other is rather foolish, considering one wants to create a brand. I will adjust it some time, but since nobody really knows I'm here, I think I can afford to leave it as it is for a little longer.
            But do need to know what you mean about placement, please.

   I was surprised when I got that email as well, humahistory. There are thousands of writers here, a great number of whom never become prolific writers. It takes a lot of time, commitment, and passion to even produce 25 in my opinion. I never thought I'd make it to 50. Now I have 57 featured. I checked out your profile page which looks great. You've come with a popular niche and you produce stellar hubs so you will do well. Welcome to HubPages.
