Phil Robertson indicated that during the pre-Civil Rights days in the South, Blacks were happy.  He further indicated that racial discrimination did not exist at all. Hmmmmm....... He is a walking time bomb.  I totally retract my prior statements indicating that Mr. Robertson had a right to his opinion regarding homosexuality.  This man is highly prejudicial to say the least!  Yes, A&E was right to ban him.

Very few have selective bigotry. Most bigots are pretty much universal bigots.

      Besides, being Black isn't Christian.

You're  right on that one.  Bigots are NEVER selective.  They are usually prejudiced against all so-called outgroups.  That man is a walking time bomb.  Let us see what other group he is prejudiced against.  It is all going to emerge to the surface sooner or later.   Have a Blessed Holiday Melissa to you and yours.

Well, it's hard to voice dissent when you're hanging from an oak tree, so he might not be completely wrong in saying he never heard any dissent...

Uh huh, Blacks in the South in the pre-Civil Rights days did not dare complain to Caucasians of their disparate treatment less they would be deemed troublesome and have dire consequences come to them.  I was relayed stories of such by my maternal relatives.   Blacks in the South had to be obsequious in order to survive in the Jim Crow South.

That is why many Blacks left the South for a little more opportunities and freedom in the North although in the North, there was discrimination.  Zeke, some people will believe what THEY wish to believe.  Same as with the Germans in 1945 when they were taken to the concentration camps by the Americans who liberated the camps.  They claimed that they "did not know".   The prisoners countered that they DID KNOW.

Of course the Germans KNEW of the concentration camps.  They saw the trains and saw their Jewish neighbors "disappear".  Some has Jewish and other slave laborers working in their towns and villages.  Come on now.  They knew what happened to the Jews as  Caucasian Southerners knew that Blacks were discriminated against.  Oh puleeze, come on now!

Reread what he said. He said HE, as a boy, did not see it happening. Lots of kids are pretty oblivious. Also, isn't colorblindness what we are supposed to be? I have lived in the south and the north. I'd say that at least these days, the north is where prejudice is worse. I have no idea what is in that guy's mind. Maybe he is just a jerk, but you have to read a lot into his comments to get that result. He also said that his own sins were no different than the sins of others.

      Really?

You aren't trolling or anything? That's seriously your response?

I'm not trying to be insulting, I swear. But that's really how you read this?

No, not trolling. Sorry if it seems that way. Maybe I am the oblivious one. I did read the transcript of his remarks, though. I met any number of whites in the south who believed that racism wasn't all that bad down there. And, compared to where I was from, it didn't LOOK that bad. Poor blacks and whites got along better in the south than in the north. But, as a white northerner, I was an outsider to both groups, so it isn't unlikely that I didn't see everything that went on.
Again, I am just suggesting you read his remarks with an open mind to the possibilities. Does he have a personal history of bias against anyone? He was asked specific questions, and answered in a straightforward way. And he said his own sins were as bad as those of anyone else.
