I've got a question about asking questions...

    Hey fellow Hubbers!

I've got some questions regarding my CPM that I'm afraid would require I give specifics about my activity, traffic and earnings to get good feedback about what's happening with it.

That said, it seems that some specifics are taboo and could cause an even bigger issue for me based on some posts I've seen.

How do I go about getting feedback on what I did that may have caused changes (not good changes obviously) without receiving backlash or is there no backlash to worry about? Is this the forum to discuss such things? or do I just have to figure it out for myself?

I know this is a bit vague but I really don't want to make things worse.

Can you be more specific? LOL!  If you are talking about seeing much lower CPMs in the past two months, I'm seeing that too.  It's been posted on the Forum without any specific response from HP. Of course, some topics have a higher ad payment and  some ads have a higher click-through rate than others.  But, some ads are paid by number of views.

I think we are not allowed to post specific CPM amounts, so I will just say that I've had over 10,800 page views in the past 24 hours on my 45 Hubs and my CPM is pathetic!

HA! Are you trying to get me in trouble WF?

For me, it's been in just a weeks time and the drop is significant. Traffic however, hadn't changed overall or between Hubs so I don't think it's a topic thing.

That's why I thought it might be something I did. I've been doing some housekeeping that was overdue but nothing drastic...now my Hub scores are dropping like crazy which I don't typically pay much mind to a bit of fluctuation but this is across the board and all fluctuating in the same direction...down.

I've done a couple other things to my account settings...anything I might've done there that would be impacting CPM? I didn't deactivate anything.

Or is it just "is what it is" and I'm over-thinking it?

Oh and way to rock the views there WF. That's great! You'll have your (1M) accolade in no time!

Every time you edit a Hub it goes back through QAP.  If you edit and get a much lower score, edit it again at a different time of day and you might get a different score.  Sometimes that helps, sometimes not.

I don't know what you did to your account settings, but my CPM is way down, too, and I have no explanation for that either!

Very well. Thanks. At least that makes me feel a bit better that I didn't sabotage myself somehow. (I hooked up Google Adsense which I didn't even realize wasn't...I thought I'd done it before but noticed it was inactive for who knows how long.)

AdSense sent out a notice in its newsletter a few months ago that you had to go to your account and accept its new Terms of Service.  You probably neglected to do that.  Also, they have lately asked for more ID verification.  Just regularly check for notices on your AdSense account.

I don't even pay attention to stuff like that.  It's way too confusing for me, and just one more thing I don't need to stress over.
I write what I write, and I guess I'm doing something right, because my earnings are creeping upward. Why and how, I don't really care...  I'm just pleased that is the case.
I have been doing quite a few edits and improvements to older hubs lately...and written a few new ones...and having learned what constitutes a 'good' hub in my 3 years here, I guess my scores are going up, and I am seeing improvement.
I know some have complained about EC hubs, but I think those have helped me--I've had quite a good number so selected, and it is since then that I'm finally seeing earnings in the $1.+ per day range....
But, I don't stress over stats.  Mostly, I don't even read them, because I'm a writer, not a math and stats person.  wink
I realize none of that is likely helpful to your specific (if vague lol ) question...it's just my take and my approach.

    Best wishes.

Thanks Dzy. I generally take that approach too and if I was trending upward, I wouldn't be asking. LOL I do fairly well for myself so when I see what I'm seeing, I can't just ignore it. Of course that said, I'm really wanting to take the next step in writing as well so the numbers and workings of are, what I believe, a necessary evil. To a degree anyway.

Hard to play ball if I don't understand the game.

I understand...and I do think it is a roller coaster thing here, so I wouldn't fret too much.  Things go in cycles, and sometimes you're up; sometimes sliding down.  I'm heading downward a bit now, myself...my hubber score has slid (though they keep saying to ignore/not worry about that), and my earnings yesterday dropped to less than half the previous day.  Why?  Don't know.
What am I going to do about it?  Just keep doing what I've been doing lately--it will correct itself in time.
