   Thousands of Muslims tried to flee the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR) on Friday, only for their mass convoy of cars and trucks to be turned back as crowds of angry Christians taunted: "We're going to kill you all."
   
   The drama unfolded as Amnesty International said it had uncovered evidence of a fresh massacre in a village where the sole surviving Muslim was an orphaned girl aged about 11, and France said it would send an extra 400 peacekeeping troops.
   
   Some cars were crammed with as many as 10 people as the convoy made its way through Bangui, the second such attempt to escape in a week, the Associated Press reported. Christians gathered along the road to shout abuse and threats.
   
   The convoy was turned back because African peacekeepers feared it would come under attack in some volatile parts of Bangui. The desperate procession was halted in the Miskine neighbourhood, where one vehicle tumbled into a ditch on the side of the road.
   
   On the orders of a Burundian captain, the peacekeepers went from vehicle to vehicle instructing everyone to return to a local mosque, according to an AP journalist at the scene.
   
   Lieutenant Rosana Nsengimana, of the African peacekeeping force known as Misca, said: "The convoy escorted by Burundian forces returned to its departure point because of a problem in a neighbourhood on the north end of the city where the Muslims would have had to pass through."
   
   The neighbourhood in question witnessed fresh fighting on Friday with at least one person killed in a grenade attack by Christian militiamen, according to witnesses at a nearby mosque. French peacekeepers had to rescue two other severely injured people from an baying crowd that had set tyres on fire and was shouting anti-Muslim and anti-French slogans.

         I did read the article. It appears you knew nothing of the conflict, prior to running across that article; nor cared enough for the plight of those people to attempt to find out anything else.

               I'm not in favor of anything going on there right now. However, learn something about current events prior to attempting to make judgments that are not in line with facts, and attempting to paint those events with a tainted brush. You are attempting to imply that the Christian religion is somehow responsible for this tragedy. It is not.  You can bandy about the term troll all that you like. You are the one who fits that definition here.
               
               Unless, you are a yellow journalist and then I guess you are purposely doing this. In that event.....well done.

                           It doesn't matter why they choose to do it. The fact remains, it's still a choice. No one forced them to do it. A person can use anything as an excuse.

                                 Human behavior is to blame.
                                 
                                 When people feel threatened, they react to protect what they have. Survival instinct.
                                 
                                 Selfishness. The desire to control others. Greed. Intolerance of differences.
                                 
                                 YOU can blame religion. But if you take religion out of the equation, you still get the same behaviors.

                                       So if an American or a Canadian soldier kills someone in a conflict, it's because they are Americans or Canadians?
                                       
                                       Killing is a personal choice. It is always based on that. You can have any motivation in the world (good or bad, I'm not making moral judgments here) but it still comes down to a personal choice someone made.
                                       
                                       The motivation might be self defense, jelousy, greed, even enjoyment.
                                       
                                       But it is not because someone is a Christian, a Canadian, a lawyer, an astronaut, an atheist.

The world is a confusing place and those who relegate the problems they can't understand into make believe facts probably only do it because attempting to understand them gives them a headache. Believing this may give him a sense of security.

                                                From the same article (or at least the same paper) An Amnesty International report on Feb. 12 said attacks on Muslims in January by anti-balaka militias, made up of Christians and animists, had amounted to “ethnic cleansing.”
                                                
                                                So, what we see are Christians and animasts, banded together, against what they perceive as a common foe. What precipitated this? Because, seriously, Christians and animasts working together? Is that religion? What is an 'anti-balaka militia? Anti machete. Why would they name themselves this, if they weren't first lashing out against insane violence?
                                                
                                                The clashes between former Seleka rebels and anti Balaka militia (anti machete in mandja language) that are ravaging the Central African Republic are often described as "interfaith", being that the Seleka are Muslims and the anti Balaka Christians. The reality is more complex, because not all members of Seleka are Muslims and above all the majority of the anti Balaka militia are not Christians. These militias existed before the seizure of power of the coalition Seleka in March 2013. According to a survey published by the newspaper Ouest France, which interviewed a member of the anti Balaka, self-defense groups were created in the north of the Country at the instigation of former President Bozizé (overthrown in March 2013) to protect the people from bandits raging in the region.  "Before the anti Balaka fought street bandits because the police and the army were incapable of fighting them", explains Fr. Jean Marius Toussaint Zoumalde, a Capuchin of the convent in Saint-Laurent in Bouar (north-west). According to the Capuchin most of the members of these militias "are animists, not Christians. Their marabouts give them amulets (gri -gris) to protect them from bullets. They are young people who for years have protected their villages and their territories".
                                                
                                                The anti Balaka are present in all communities whether they are animists, Christians or Muslims. But most of them are animists. In recent months, the self-defense militias were joined by supporters of ousted President Bozizé and former soldiers in the Central African armed forces who had fled before the advancing of Seleka. Among the various components of the anti Balaka, however, tensions arose. In particular young militiamen blame the former military of abandoning them to the mercy of the rebels in all these months.                                                       Yes. Certainly. I suppose if you read an article that said a white guy killed a black guy you'd automatically assume that there was some type of racial overtone involved in the incident. The only factor important would be that one was white and one was black. You slay me.
                                                      
                                                      Oh. I forgot to comment on your comment about the Christian missionary site. True, it appears to be a Catholic site but they were quoting from a friar in a convent located in that country. Boots on the ground, so to speak. Although I would concede that he might have reason to lie; that doesn't necessarily imply that he is lying.
