Is anybody making Amazon sales?

   I never have before, but in the past week I have made 6 separate sales through Amazon. Just wondering if anybody else is having this experience. Maybe it's just a fluke.

      I used to do fair when I was writing here much more a year ago. I left for about nine months or so. Now I can't figure out how to get the product in the capsule for amazon. At the Amazon Associates page the URL is not available any longer as in the past. I don't seem to get the other magical ID's to work. If you can share of your experience let me know. I can get it as a 'word' in the text linked to a product, but not a capsule.

         You never used the code from the Amazon Associates page in HubPages capsules - or if you did, you were doing it wrong!   All you have to do is go to Amazon.com (you don't even have to be logged in), and copy either the ASIN (halfway down the page in the product info) or the URL of the page and paste that into the capsule.  Or you can just use keywords to search for a product.
         
         HubPages now has an in-house Amazon program (part of the HP Earnings program) so you have a choice of using your own Amazon Associates account (which I assume you've already got pasted into your Account page), or switching to their scheme.

            Thank you Again. I will look closer now. I tried to get the URL using the link button at Amazon Associates site and it says something about being internally supported and does not offer a URL. It does offer a HTP or HTML or some such name for a link to be copy pasted as code. I will attempt the ASIN next to see what happens.

               What are you doing on Amazon Associates?  You need to get out of your account and on to the ordinary Amazon.com site.  You can't use any of the links from within Amazon Associates in your HubPages capsules.

            This is exactly the info I've been looking to find. I wondered if it mattered if you were signed in or if I was doing something wrong in the Amazon capsule. Thanks so much, Marisa. I've had no sales on the new program but I had no sales on the old one too!

               Looking at your Hubs, most of them don't lend themselves to using Amazon capsules anyway.  For those that do, I think you've got the right idea - putting the pans right next to where you mention them in the cake recipe, for instance.
               
               If you include a book, make sure you write a few words about why it's a good book on the topic, and place the ad higher up in the Hub (many readers don't read all the way to the end).   For the Vegan recipes from The Lotus book, I'd have the ad for the book right next to your opening paragraph.

      Yes, I have had eight since the new Program began.  No big deal though as the items were quite inexpensive.

         I have not earned a lot of money either sallybea, but it was kind of exciting to see sales. One of them was on a hub about installing flooring, and somebody bought the flooring, that one especially made me happy. I'm easily amused, I know.

            It is very nice to see sales from Amazon - definitely an improvement on very few sales.
            It really does make a difference to advertise the product which you are writing about, instead of some random thing which people are not looking for anyway.  Good job Sherry.

   I've only had three since I adopted the new program (February 14). That one at least tells me that the settings are working.  This is less than what I usually get, so I am hoping that things will step up soon.
   
   P.S. The related forum post about Amazon is worth reading (again)- it has many hints about getting those Amazon sales.

   I just had a sale from HP for the first time since I joined several years ago.  I  picked up around $50 in commissions from my blogs over the holidays which is the best I have done in the past 3 years.

   I have yet to make sales on Amazon. I try to find products relevant to my writing and I guess I am not choosing the right products. The same goes for E-bay. Wish I could make money.
