    Hello,
my squidoo lens was dropped from 11.807 to over one million and put in WIP. It was at 100%, got a like-it twitter, had all green check marks, photos, modules and 8 hits this week.

Can I move my lenses over?
Is it OK to mention my own blog site in my hub page?
Is it ok to refer to my one and only product on my hub page? It happens to be a clickbank product.
But i am not a marketer and not into promoting other products.
I just wanted to make a mention of this small tennis class of mine, when publishing free stuff.

Is this ok here? Would somebody know?
    Thank you
    Andi

Refer to the FAQ section first and for more specific questions/answers send an email to : team@hubpages.com

Personally I believe that you can place some links on your profile page that are purely personal and on hubs so long as the links are related in some way to what is being discussed on it.

You can link to your own websites, but no more than twice in each Hub article.  Clickbank products, however, are not allowed: http://hubpages.com/faq/#prohibitedlinks

The first thing to do is check with Copyscape to see if your lens has been copied anywhere.  If it has, then you won't be able to use it on HubPages because they insist on original content, not published elsewhere.  You'll have to get the stolen copies taken down before you can publish it here.

If it hasn't been copied, then you can unpublish the lens, ask Google to de-index it and move it here. Make sure it's gone from Google's cache before you publish it.

Yes it is absolutely fine to mention your own blog on any of your Hubs, provided the Hub is on the same subject as your blog.

No, you can't link to a Clickbank product because Clickbank is not allowed here.  However, if it's your own product, why not put it on eJunkie, or on your own blog, and link to that instead?

If you are here to create Hubs so that they are useful and full of original content, you might have a successful Hub.

If you are just trying to drive traffic elsewhere, your Hub will be as unsuccessful as your lens was.

    Relache,

how can you judge the success of my lens?
Because it dropped in rank? Well, happens sometimes.
Also, I do not drive traffic from Hubpage or Squidoo or any of these places elsewhere, but rather the opposite is true.

Then I do buy photos for my publications, a publication always costs me.
Reversely, I always find quite a few ads around hubs or lenses (or whatever the name is): to the right, at the bottom, at the top. Plenty.
Ads that bring money - just not for me (or the author).
Additionally, I always get the feeling I should drive amazon products. Again, more clamor, more selling, more noise.
That a writer and author also has to live of something, no one seems to care. I should just sponsor it all through my day job's work, deliver good content on top, and shut up. That's how it feels, but that's not how it works.

To me your answer feels disrespectful.
Anyway, this post can be closed. All is well.

    Thank you
    Andi

    Andi,

As a Squidoo lensmaster who has kept a lens in the top of the top 100 for seven years running, I am not actually judging your lens (I don't know which one it is), just making some comments about what seems to work for me.  You seem like you are not trying very hard, as what makes a lens fall down into the millions is just being abandoned.  Any sort of updating or content attention from the author is how you easily reverse that sort of rank drop.

    Hello relache,
I saw that you are quite industrious on Hubpages. Well, my respect. Even more respect for the top one hundred lens on squidoo for seven consecutive years. It can't be a seasonal lens then.
I realized that the style at Hubpages is more newspaper-like. This is not my cup of tee, so I will not write Hubpages.
At Squidoo I feel I can be more true to myself. Their style is more how I would express myself. At least that's what I arrived at after looking around a bit at HubPages.
To me Hubpages seem a little dry, collected, to the point of being sterile—like greatly researched reports. In Squidoo terms, I miss the "wow" effect.

You are right in your observation that leaving my lens as is caused it plummeting, as new requirements took.

So I leave here, say good bye, and wish you all well. Writers should support each other, as to me writing is not competetive. One writer's expression today could be trailblazing for another writer's work tomorrow.
    Good writing to you
    Andi

HubPages doesn't have a style - you're free to write whatever you like.  You've bumped heads with ONE Hubber on this thread - don't let it colour your whole experience of the site.
