Ok folks, let's try to stay on topic with this.
The IRS says Lois Lerner's email's were lost due to her computer's hard drive failure.
Not only that, but apparently six other people involved in the non-profit orgs. "scandal" have lost their emails too!
If you are not familiar with this story - here is a quick search link, pick your poison: Lois Lerner email crash
Am I a dummy? (wait! on this topic, not in general!), Aren't emails stored/served on a server somewhere - not an individual's computer? When I access my gmail emails - they are not on my computer. When I access my web sites emails - they are not on my computer. When someone opens their email from a company account, (as the IRS would have been), they are accessing a server - not just their computer's harddrive.
So what difference does it make if Lois Lerner's computer harddrive crashed, (which is the claim),? That would have no effect on the email client server that was actually processing the emails.
I am not a techie, so I may be completely off-base here, but my bullshit detector is going bonkers. Do they really think we are that dumb?
GA
This is without a doubt the biggest lie they have tried to feed us in the history of politics. Yet many of their loyal followers will not only swallow this lie, but will defend it until the bitter end.
Even servers are backed up constantly to prevent such a thing from happening. The backup servers are normally in a completely separate location to guard against total data loss in case of a natural disaster such as fire or flooding.
This lie would indicate just how stupid they think we really are.........
Definitely, ah the SPINNING has began. What webs they are weaving as they are deceiving. Well, SOME will be deceived but those who KNOW BETTER won't be.
Files can be transferred to the PC in question, wiping them from the server. It would be sound practice for anything sensitive at all.
Having said that, I doubt it was done.
Wiping from the server and residing on a networked PC for security purposes sounds counter-intuitive to me. Unless you mean wiping and then deleting. But neither scenarios fit the IRS email server system or Lerner's hardrive crash. So far, it is my understanding that the IRS did have an email server system similar to what most of us are familiar with,
GA
Counter intuitive, maybe, although the owner then has control of that hard drive. When on the server, someone else has total control, not you. They can read, wipe, send, duplicate - whatever they wish. At least IF you can keep the hackers out, you do control your own machine.
I keep a folder on my computer for emails I wish to keep. A "backup" if you will, for the server - if I leave them, if they go broke, whatever, I still have those emails. I could easily wipe the files from the server (or at least be told I had done so), leaving the emails only on my machine.
I find it very hard to believe that these emails were victimized by an entirely selective computer gremlin. But even if this rare event actually did occur, the federal gov't is, by law, supposed to make hard copies of every email that passes between any agency and the WH. So, even if by some miraculous event the computer crashed and the emails regarding this one specific controversy were actually lost forever, Lerner is still responsible for failure to follow legal requirements regarding the copying.
But such is the transparency of the Obama administration. And for any of us to question Lerner's integrity must, by golly, mean we're just big fat ignorant, racist Obama-haters..that eat kittens, pull the wings off butterflies and sleep with inflatable George Bush "love" dolls.
I SMELL pure fertilizer, my detector is in FULL GEAR, c'mon now. Puhleeze, they can bamboozle some to believe this inanity but not ME.
