   What is killing the American economy bit by bit by bit is the myriad socioeconomic entitlements!  When has America begin to become an entitled society where many people believe that they are entitled to receive some socioeconomic accoutrements of one kind or another?  Is the American government becoming our parents?  Now, instead of criticizing the wealthy, let us look into as to WHO REALLY TAKES from the American taxpayers and contribute nothing to the American economy!

      What's going to more than likely not happen here is that people who pay no income tax are going to tell us how they contribute to the problem.  It is a problem when 50% of the workers pay no income taxes.  They will be same ones who have their hands out to be filled by those of us who do.  These professional pick pockets we send to Washington DC want the populace to be dependent on their largesse so that they can maintain power.  This has long ago gone from "We, the People..."  to "They Themselves..."  I grew up poor and never went hungry.  We've started to become a nation of poor excuses is what I am seeing.

      Has anybody done any surveys into how many people are on public assistance and the influence the wealthy receive from lobby pedaling? One side seems to point at the other and then go about their business. Is it fair that some people have given up being producing members of society and just make an existence on the public welfare. And is it fair that there are those whose money buys more lucrative ways of circumventing taxes and able to effect changes in the law to better themselves at the cost of others welfare? I see the conjecture all the time and neither one seems realistic.

   I think Veterans should be entitled to care for their wounds, children should be entitled not to starve just for being born into a poor family, and refugees fleeing persecution should be entitled to help assimilating into US society.
   
   I am am happy to pay taxes to support these things.  Of all the stuff I resent paying tax for, helping people in need is not one of them.

                        On the grounds of probability.  How much federal income tax did you pay last year? Answer that and then answer how much you sucked out the government in entitlements.  Do the math son.

               SO GLAD to see you here, Frog.  Add some FIRE to the discussion.  The forums need people like you to inject some sound commonsense into the subject at hand!  It is so sad that some people expect the world to owe them a livelihood which includes food, clothing, shelter, and other amenities.  They really don't care that it is the tax dollars of working Americans that is supporting them.  They claim that it is not enough and EVEN WANT MORE!   Well, ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

      While I agree that veterans more than rightfully deserve to be cared for, who tells people to have children that they CAN'T afford which result in the latter being born into poverty and want which ultimately result in the American taxpayer supporting them. 
      
      If the parents can't afford to take care of their child/children, then DON'T have them.  I do not support refugees and immigrants coming to this country if they DON'T have any marketable, relevant, and/or contributable skills.  These refugees and immigrants are extra baggage who will eventually overtax our alreadly overburdened social welfare system.   
      
      Now, let's support veterans for they went beyond the call of duty for this country but to the poor parents who can't afford to support their children and to the refugees/ immigrants who have NO relevant skills- no we SHOULDN'T support them.  America is not a charity!

         "I do not support refugees and immigrants coming to this country if they DON'T have any marketable, relevant, and/or contributable skills." Have you seen how fast a group of Mexicans can build a house, or wall, or anything for that matter?
         "Now, let's support veterans for they went beyond the call of duty for this country " Because they are perfect because they served in the military? 12% go into the military already with criminal records and an even higher number of veterans are criminals. (not saying that the law abiding ones do not deserve appreciation)

   There is a sense of entitlement amongst the rich as well.
   It is every bit as detrimental to the mindset of society if you ask me. If I could tell you every story I see each day, I would hope it would make you shake your head as well.
   
   Two days ago I faced one after the other, and it actually just made me feel weary. The one that put me over the edge was that a woman shopped too long, and had put a bag of frozen chicken in her cart at the beginning of her shopping trip. She finally left the store and returned a few minutes later. Her chicken had begun to thaw. I had to reclaim (throw away) the entire bag of unopened chicken and replace it for her. Do you know how hard it is for me not to remind customers that there are ppl starving in the world?
   
   These ppl want perfection. They want to live in a world where unrefrigerated chicken doesn't thaw and though they have money, they wont allow a dime of it to slip out of their fingers if it means being mildly inconvenienced. If they don't get what they want, their demeanor becomes ugly as they threaten that they will shop at a different store... as if they have mortally wounded me.
   
   Selfish, spoiled people are what they are whether rich or poor.

         Of COURSE THEY ARE ENTITLED TO KEEP WHAT THEY EARN, AFTER ALL, THEY WORKED FOR IT!  Frog, this society is becoming more anti-success, anti-achievement, and ENTITLED.  There are SOME people out there who feel entitled to what others have worked for.   They feel that they don't have to work to get THAT lifestyle, after all, in their "minds", the rich should just fork it over to them.  My late father had an appropriate word for them........PARASITES.

            Do you really equate rich with good and poor with bad?
            Do you know how many beautiful, amazing, hard working ppl there are in the world who didn't have the same opportunities as their counterparts? Do you know how many evil rich ppl there are? lol
            Good and evil have nothing to do with rich or poor. Quality of character, or a lack thereof, is something that is learned on both sides of the track.
