I am often worried of losing data on computer. My worry is very much same on the hubs I wrote. Should a hubber keep backup of his data? If we have a backup, we can meet any eventuality that may arise in future and be on a safe wicket. After all these are all machines, I mean the servers, and anything may happen at any time. Can any one suggest a good and safe method to keep a backup of our online articles. I think this concern is genuine and some valuable tips will help all of us. Please leave your comments.
I think you answered your own question before you even asked it.
Yes, I agree but my intention was mainly to get some idea on how to backup these data safely and to know various methods of storage. I am happy that some hubbers have given me some wonderful ideas and that will help me as well all other hubbers
The best way to save your work in case either the HP servers or your computer crashes is make sure you at least copy/paste your hubs into a word processing program and save it to your hard drive. Once you do that, save those files to an external hard drive or CD.
I was thinking about that too, it would be a disaster if we wake up one day and find nothing to check! Maybe they can send us a copy of our hubs every time we publish one!
Yes, that's why I raised this question here. Your idea is fine. Thanks for the comments.
I learned a long time ago that all my articles, whether they be HP, my blog or my own website should be backed-up. I have everything on a CD. Just makes good sense.
Agreeing to vocalcoach, I feel it is absolutely necessary to have a back-up of articles. Long ago I have seen a student almost banging his head against wall when he lost his assignment which he was supposed to submit the next day.
What a pathetic condition that was! It is unbearable for us as well and of course that made me to raise my concern and ask the question here. I too never stored my contents elsewhere and now thinking of doing so to avoid a disaster.
How about using online storage devices such as Google Drive and Dropbox??? Their plus side is that you can access your back-ups from anywhere using any internet enabled device.
Wonderful ideas and I will work out it. Thanks for the tips. It will benefit all.
I agree with Barak James about online backup. Nowadays, too many free or paid options are available for backing up your data. An offline physical storage device will eventually break one day.
Yes Barak;s ideas are wonderful and helpful too.
Like Sheila Myers, I save everything both on my hard drive and on an external hard drive. I am not sure how things are where you live, but I live in an isolated region of Brasil and my internet connection is very slow. If it were not, I might save articles online, as suggested by Chinaimport.
As it is, my computer breaks down about every 6 months (because of the heavy salt winds) but I keep the external disk drive in a drawer and have never lost my important information.
External disk drives are very cheap now, so if you do not have one buy as soon as possible. Do not depend on your computerĀ“s hard drive.
Thanks for your valuable tips. I will give a try to the option you suggested.
I never, ever use my hard drive to back up my work permanently.
I keep current info there for one month, then transfer it to a flash drive. Then I copy that info to another flash drive as a second back up.

I'm not even sure what that means. I have almost no links on anything, only 1 even has an amazon capsule, and I don't even know how to "keystuff" (it was listed on possible promotional items list). A friend told me maybe they think my content is generated by A.I. Well, it's not. I...

How many of you have hardcopy printouts of your articles? I don't yet, but I need to make some. It's the only reliable backup method.

I currently my blog and HubPages, but will add more sites eventually. I have both content and photos separated by which site they are on, however, sometimes I want...

Do you keep a backup of your Hubs? If so, do you keep it in your hard disk or elsewhere! Why I ask this is because I was writing for an online website earlier , before joining HubPages. I had saved the links to those 25 + articles that I had published there. Now when I click on those links , I get...
