I am writing a hub and would like to link to a post on my blog.  When I add the URL it asks if this is a affiliate link, paid link or untrusted link.  Not sure exactly what an affiliate or paid link is.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

If it's a link to your blog just go ahead and add it normally. An affiliate link is a link to a third party site wherein you get commission for stuff purchased such as Amazon, homedepot, etc

And to add to the previous response, a paid link is where someone pays you to put the link in your content.

This is a big no, no.  On HubPages, you should never accept paid links.  If you do it on your own site, make sure they are no followed.  Google is pretty good at detecting this and it can be really rough for your site and for the person that bought the link.

A NoFollow link is also used for advertising.  For instance, if you want to link to a product you have for sale on Zazzle, Google requires that the link be labeled NoFollow.  HP only recently gave us the option to do this, and it really is necessary according to Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

Linking to your blog does not need the NoFollow attribute, unless you are specifically linking to a product-for-sale on your blog.

Thanks Writer Fox.  Now I know what all of these things mean.

You're welcome.  If you want to learn more about links on your Hubs, see my SEO Tutorial Hub and go to this section from the Table of Contents:
