are adding your articles to reddit worth it?

   I am trying new ways to drive traffic and I read that adding your articles to reddit may help. Unfortunately, I do not understand reddit. Is it worth getting in to?

      Reddit is for sharing webpages that users like. They'll quickly ban you if you use it for purposes of advertising or self-promotion.
      
      People generally use Reddit to find articles, videos, and photos they'll enjoy and find interesting. You can use it to research what people find most interesting in the topics you write about, but I'll warn you, it can turn into one heck of a time waster. I used it as a research tool for a few months, adding all of the sub-reddits that cover topics I write on and I basically learned what I already knew.
      
      It solidified the obvious; people like clever, interesting, eloquent writing that comes with great photos or clever images and a unique take on the subject.

         I have had little connection to them, and the really popular posts are often fairly mundane day to day issues that are kind of boring, IMO. But once in awhile they confront controversy in a very intelligent way.

            Reddit is great for having in-depth conversations on issues with a wide variety of people and it's great for finding material you are interested in. Its legitimate uses don't mesh well with getting one's work done, so I called it a time waster.
            
            It's easy to get sucked into those intelligent conversations and cool posts when one is supposed to be writing for a client, for a project, or for HubPages. At least I get sucked into it and find myself arguing politics and religion when I really ought to be researching an article or content for somebody's webpage.

      Reddit kicked m3 out when i shared the second time. Try redgage and stumbleupon. I found them helpful

               I used to stumble every article I wrote. I can't say it helped me a lot, but I never had any problem  with Adsense.

      They will allow you to post whatever you want. About the banning thing: They have never banned me from their site, and I posted only articles that I wrote myself from hubpages or blogger site. So, you can post whatever you want, as long as you follow their policy and terms.
      Regarding to the traffic you will get: most of the time it is insignificant, because your just-posted hubs will get maybe 2-3 views per day, but in the long run Reddit may become one of your most valuable sources that drives more traffic in your site.

   I've found reddit to be a waste of time; and Kylyssa's absolutely right, they'll ban you quickly for posting your own work a lot. I've heard if you join the right group on there you can make it work, but I have no experience with that.

   Many subreddits will not even allow a link to Hubpages. We have a bad reputation there. There is a subreddit just for hubs. it is: /r/thehubhub. You can post your links there, but as far as I can tell there has been little success.

   Just want to say this: I'd be careful about putting links to sites that might be seen by the Google search engine as a place for unnatural links. This is why I took all my links off of redgage because the site seems like a spam fest.
   
   I use regular social media channels to periodically post some of my articles: Pinterest, Facebook, sometimes Twitter and once in awhile Google Plus. It seems to bring in a little traffic.
   
   Mostly, I think, traffic and sharing has to occur naturally. I'm surprised at the amount I get from social media that I didn't elicit at all. It still means people have to find your article and the only way I know of to do that is to have keyphrases in titles that people are looking for and are not already dominated. That means doing SEO research of some kind, even the most rudimentary.

   Well, well bless my soul. Reddit sent 50,000 visitors to one of my blog articles yesterday.  I thought the blogger stats must be messed up; but GA supports it. I probably shared that article on the Reddit hubpages subdomain last summer, and it suddenly did something.
