It's relatively easy to 'win' a forum discussion, but considering the complexity and magnitude of the real life of the world, our 'intellectual' victory on a website's forum, ultimately, is pretty insignificant.
I've been on here for about a year - locked horns with a bunch of you on the issue of human spirituality. Never take them seriously. I wish you all peace, and prosperity.
The world has a problem. But does it really have any problem at all? Our problem is that of attitude, values, and our imaginary, imposed limitations - instead of perceiving and celebrating reality, as it truly is.
As it is an issue of attitude, it can not be fought against with guns and bullets. But with a stronger, opposite attitude.
And that, my friends, is what 'Religion & Philosophy' forums are all about. Because you're the world!
I've read a few of these threads you've started and I have to say that the claim of 'winning' shows how easy it is to believe something that isn't necessarily believed by the majority. It brings up an entire set of questions on how differently each individual can perceive reality; while being at complete odds with it.
One does wonder. I know many people who appear to believe falsehoods. Do such individuals truly believe; or do they believe if they convince enough people that it is the truth that it will become such. In that instance, knowing they had to convince others to believe something that wasn't necessarily true to begin with; do they then believe it themselves or is the kernel of truth something that will choke them, emotionally, at some point.
"In that instance, knowing they had to convince others to believe something that wasn't necessarily true to begin with; do they then believe it themselves or is the kernel of truth something that will choke them, emotionally, at some point."
Quotation marks ('win'), for example.
So our attitude should simply be we believe ourselves to be right; no matter the facts associated with our belief? True, that would make a big difference.
Like I am ever going to believe there is no soul, no heaven or after life and no God.
Ha ha ha!
They say when one is about to die, one realizes how beautiful the world is and what an amazing thing life is.
How sad if its only at that point. I guess for some they are lucky if they realize it at all, ever.

Do you think things are changing for the better or for the worse?War, depression, no jobs, hunger, prices skyrocketing, is this a good thing? Are we heading for something that will be better; or are we heading for more of the same?

Well thanks to all of you who prayed for me. It was encouraging.Unfortunately the atheists may win this one. We'll see. I wrote a hub on changing your luck, and wouldn't you know not 24 hours after I wrote it I had two job leads and a compliment from a supervisor at my current job. The article is...

Is love an emotion that is ever changing or an attitude that can be developed?

1. HubPages seems to place great importance on graphics in a hub, recommending inclusion of at least three. However, in a philosophical hub inclusion even of a single graphic sometimes makes no sense. Any thoughts or suggestions on that? Does a lack or dearth of impressive graphics automatically...

How do you deal with people who are very negative?Do you try to just ignore them or weave them into your smiling world?
