   I know no other more influential or more persausive tool in the history of mankind than Art. Visual arts artifact have been use to record dates and event throughtout mankind history. Art can tell a story of cultures, countries and Religions where lanuages can not express as well or as deep.

      I also agree:

      But, there is even more to Art, if you ask me.
      Some people don't get it at all ... some people go overboard.
      One almost can't talk about what makes Art (works) so fascinating.
      
      But we can try.
      Should the the process or the outcome be valued more.
      Usually the outcome.
      
      I say, No. The process.
      We are short-changed as we gaze at the finished product of a painting, sculpture or graphic production without knowing how it was accomplished or what thoughts were behind it.

   Also, why are there more male artists than female?

      From what I can gather,
      
      Art, Religion, Science, and everything we have ever achieved in the history of mankind all became from our imagination. It's like the closest thing to being Godlike, there is.
      
      When I call Religion a culture, it also can be used or misused as a tool for a man's purpose or an end result. Art has been a longest living tool of imagination ever and most common thread throughout all groups.
      
      One example of a performing art was GW Bush parades, bonders, flying flags and clapping after 9/11 hit. He went from the lowest public polls for an USA President to the highest in polls for a President ever.

         Women pay is changing fast, maybe not fast enough for some.
         
         I for one think equal pay, for equal work.
         I hired and trained one women to win the world Sandsculpture Championship twice. Although she beat me twice, she has 3 more championship to go to beat me over all.

                     There is hundreds of sandsculpture contest around the world, just google for some in your area. Maybe some books at the library or online on how to get started. Out of the 1000s of people I've hired, i would look for the ones with most desire. The people wanting to make big money from it were the least worthy.

                           I would look for world class sculptors in wood, stone, ice, and etc....to hire or they would find me. Other sculptors hired would be class B some get paid, some don't. When it came to film, museum  and custom work, would hire people smarter than me in those area. Some projects got so big and crazy would of hired almost anybody. Sometime it's like  an Alice in wonderland  trip.

                                    Your fun is also work. Unfortunately many (adults) have a bad connotation of that word, (work). However, I believe (with art, especially) play is work and work is play. With all tasks, this is true for children. Adults loose this outlook. So, to do art projects, one needs to be in touch with this child-like quality to love work, (play.)
                                    I would say.

                                       I tell people I'm a 8 years old, trapped in an age 60 year old body.  Most people loose their imagination around age 8 and schools becomes more like a sewing machine factory and many continue to live a lie.
                                       
                                       One time I did sell out my art as a play tool for the rich. No more, I now work for the people and won't sell out to the highest bidder, unless it's for a healthy product.

                                                         Swimming freestyle was on the Canada national team, over a Canadain  record in the 50 mm.
                                                         
                                                         Wresting was more of a natural sport, yet did not persue as much.  Never was pinned on international level circuit.

                                                            Swimming mostly. 33 seconds was my lowest time for 50m freestyle. (Today @ 41) What was your record time????

                                                                  Yep. You are a good (meaning excellent) swimmer!
                                                                  Are sand sculptures done on the beach? Do you swim/surf in between sculpting?
                                                                  There is a job for me!
                                                                  Or do you work on cold moist beaches in winter? what if it rains?

                                                                     Not on the road like I was, from building two eco villages plus Filmmaking/Art gallery, it takes up a lot of time. Sand and snowsculpture more parttime, not slowing down just got started in a different focus direction.

                                                                           I started my animation schooling in Orange county and sandsculpted out on Venice Beach.  Was taken by the sun, sound of the waves, seagulls, and beautiful babes bending over and asking questions and often forgetting what the ? Was.##%+ then was sidetrack to a career in sandsculpture.
                                                                           
                                                                           Now my daughter is following my footsteps out in LA.  Both of our artworks would sell even better in LA. As far as selling our tiny green homes, some hard bylaws would have something to say about that. Our reclaim art wood furniture would sell for 10 times greater in LA than in Saskatchewan.

                                                                              Oh.
                                                                              I often think about how putting art materials into the hands of the homeless and leaving them in peace to create whatever they wanted on canvas would make an interesting gallery show. Their works might sell and they could earn some money.
                                                                              
                                                                              I think its a great idea. Would take a lot of organizing and purchasing materials, though, and then helping to motivate and encourage them. Like all idealistic ideas, proly wouldn't work.

                                                                                 I have seen many homeless art programs fail. Yet I seen rent to own homeless tiny eco home villages work with the right connections. When there is more homeless people in tent cities than there are public servants, I think more of the mental illness comes from the top.

                                                                                          Hemp vaults houses, 1/7 the weight and stronger than concrete, no reinforcements needed.
                                                                                          
                                                                                          Hemp laws in the US are starting to fall like the eastern block wall. Because China and Europe's advances with hemp had big success. I' m building right now with hemp, best overall material by far in the World.
                                                                                          
                                                                                          Maybe some day I'll build a car and fuel on hemp like Henry Ford did. The hemp plastic was stronger than steel, did not dent when hit with a slug hammer.

   Also, I would say, Art is a way to reveal beauty and the ideal of human existence. Sometime the ideal is shown through satire as with Goya and Picasso.

         ~ what about photos of? My daughter was a model in a photo shoot featuring a giant sand dinosaur which had been created by an artist/sculptor on Santa Monica beach. She posed below it in a beach chair as a child behind her apparently finished up his huge sand sculpture.  I came across a magazine article with a photo of this same dinosaur sand sculpture. 
         Why not make Greeting Cards/Calendars/Posters of the images? Well, thats my idea, (featuring my mermaids) but you can use it, Castlepaloma.
         T shirts would be okay too.

            I tried selling photo of sorts, they did not sell directly yet did sell leads to a few other sandsculpture projects. Most sales come from on the job displays.  I would get about 8 business card and one or two jobs would come out of this. People most enjoy the performing art of watching it grow quickly before their eyes.

            I do a green newsletters in Saskachewan. One fellow has made a hybrid gas/hemp bike . He is held back by Coperation/Government, putting it on the market. We already know almost everything green. It's just about getting allow to be able to, or around the greedy club. The same club they beat us up with everyday.

               Thank goodness for Art. Ideally, doing art brings us out of the mundane world of competition for competition's sake. Creating art helps us shut out all the harsh realities of this world. It brings us to stillness, contemplation and embracement. It helps us tune into a a special moment, thought, perception, observation, ideal, philosophy, place.
               
               A painting or sculpture reveals something the artist has embraced with love …. or rejected with hate. It allows the artist to express what he and he alone has become conscious of.
               "Be yourself, all other selves are taken."
               Art facilitates this ideal because with art one can take control, act upon one's own intention and dynamically be oneself.

   Then there are artists who do art for the sake of competing.
   Who is the BEST artist?
   Whose painting/creation is the BEST or weirdest, or creepiest, or ?
   I do not believe art should be used for competition's sake. Art is a window into the deeper awareness of a the artist.
   Otherwise, why bother.
   
   Thats the way I see it.
