The video clearly came from another website and/or was copyrighted. There was a watermark / stamp on it.

Does this no watermark include a watermark of my HP profile page?  I didn't see the rule yet, but is it an absolute no one watermarks of any sort?

a video with a watermark on it .. a logo or copyright placed on it.

Context is relevant..why, do you ask?

Because HP said that watermarked videos are against the rules now.  Apparently it doesn't matter if they are contextually relevant.

I was just wondering if "watermarked videos" was now part of the witch hunt.

I've got a hub with a couple of videos made by a pharmaceutical company which has their logo on them. Is that acceptable?

Actually I bet they love it if you use the video, as it's free advertising for them. All my youtube videos are watermarked with my URL at the bottom of each one.

I wish thousands would use them so I get all that advertising! big_smile

Get your point Bill, and am 100% sure the pharma company is over the moon that I am using their videos, but will HP unpublish my hubs because of them?

Well these days I have no idea what the rules are here anymore! big_smile

But I'd say if it's an embeddable video it should be fine. smile

Watermarks are often added specifically on content that we want shared, its free promotion.

I place watermarks on images I make available to the general public also.

Sometimes the images I want to use will have a website watermarked on them, because, as SF pointed out, someone wants some free advertising. Or it could be a video. Could we have clarification about what we are allowed to use, or not?

All my vids are from You Tube and someone at Hubpages said it was watermarked and so it is not allowed!  All my videos are relevant to the material.  I swear they are starting to drive me crazy.  I'm seriously considering just getting my own website.

Isn't there a function on Youtube for the video owner to not allow it to be embedded?  I have had a couple of videos I have tried to use in HP and an error came up regarding this.

If the Youtube video owner allows the embed feature, doesn't that mean that the owner is implicitly allowing its use - whether or not they branded or watermarked it?

      absolutely

Well it definitely says watermarked videos are no longer allowed.
I know HP are wanting to set up their own videos, but how can I make videos for my own use here without a digital video camera? Don't videos that come from YouTube which complement a hub, keep people on the page for longer?

One of my hubs got flagged for watermark.  It was so light that I didn't notice it at first and had to email HP.  Good thing, I accidentally looked at my screen at an angle, and there it was.  I've come across very few watermarked videos.. but now I really look at a video to make sure it is not watermarked before I use it.  But sometimes it's really difficult to tell.

Yes, Ignorantly I put a Youtube video on one of my Hubs, and Adsense  dropped me like a hot potato...I DiD not Know about the No Copright , or Logo vid's...my fault I am new here ..it was a mistake to do that now I know.  I think I'll just stay away from videos. I feel like I am Juggling , and having to maybe walk on egg shells a little. .....I pulled the Hub and adsense is back...
