Just heard that West Central Florida may get hit by a tropical storm early next week. We may have to evacuate, so if you don't see me here, you'll know I'm hiding out!
It is almost midnite now here in Florida and the track has changed ....excuse me, projected path, has changed yet again. My friend's brother works for the national weather service out of Miami and has told us lots of rain is on the way but at this point no damaging winds but you know how fast that can change.Been through some big hurricanes...in Virginia and here too.
Wishing you the best
Stay safe! That's the main thing.
We'll see you on the flip side!
Will do. Thanks. Just hoping it doesn't turn into a Hurricane!
I also live in the same area of Florida. We have had good luck on hurricanes for a long time. Let's hope our luck continues
I am in Oregon, and need to fly into Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday to get home! Flights may be cancelled. Just not sure yet.
You may be OK because it appears the East side of FL may be spared.
I live in Florida too. I am sure; we will handle the storm very well. As long we are prepared with food, water, gas, and a generator. Also, we need to be alert and ready to go inside a shelter with other people. Do not worry mister traveler2; you are not alone.
Oh, I know. I've lived in this area for more than 40 years! Seems the storm has been downgraded, so winds should not be a problem (at least as they see it now), but flooding will be another issue. Too much water means no electricity, which means...well, you know. Thinking of evacuating with our RV if it gets too close to Tampa Bay.
Hey, more Floridians here than I thought. ;>)
I live just south of Tampa on the Coast, and a couple of days ago this storm seems to be down-graded for now, so I've relaxed a lot.
I have an old motorhome and it has a generator, so my preparation for these storms is to make sure my fuel and water tanks are full.
Then I just sit back and wait to see if I have to run somewhere. I am an official Hurricane Coward at heart. LOL!
Take care all of you, just in case, as they say.
DON
I do the same thing as you. We've run at least two times in the past 40 years here, but will go again if thing get iffy. Spent this afternoon cleaning the coach and doing a few minor repairs just in case. RVs are great to have, aren't they?
The joys of living on a peninsula! Sandbags have been on my back patio since July's tropical rains. Here's the latest I heard on WFLA's Facebook page.
FORECAST FROM WFLA Bryan Bennett: Tropical Storm Erika has DISSIPATED. All watches/warnings have been discontinued. The remnants could bring enhanced rain chances to the Tampa Bay Area Monday/Tuesday. Still bears watching for any redevelopment.
If it redevelops going over the Gulf, we'll see increased rain. I live north of Tampa on the nature coast.

So True! I just realized I have to go and buy two extension cords, and splice them together. I did this once, many years ago, and used the generator to power the fridge and a couple of lights in my house. You just have to turn OFF the main breaker and all appliance breakers xcept the one for the fridge. Then plug the RV into a house receptacle,
Dodged another bullet ! We will get rain and winds but nothing like a tropical storm. The worst part of all of this will be flooding. WE have had so much rain and severe flooding about two weeks ago, if we get significant rain, it will still be a problem. I don't live in a flood zone, but I hate to see people take another hit. I'll spend the day hubbing, while the hubby watches his football/baseball, lol
Stay safe. We'll leave a mint on your hub page and the lights on for when you get back!
