Why are some people not posting my comments?

   I cannot understand why many of my comments are not posted.  The submission seems OK to me, why are they not posted?  Is there a system failure at HubPages?  Can I get HubPages to investigate?

      What 'comments' are you referring to? Comments on hubs? Comments on the forum? Or do you mean actual hubs?

         He is referring to comments he has made on others' hubs. Often those are not posted immediately depending on how the author of the hub has configured the comments settings.

      I can see on your recent activity that you have posted a lot of comments on hubs but they haven't yet been approved by the hub authors.  Some authors set their comments so that everything has to be approved first, and some have no moderation on comments but periodically delete the ones they don't like.
      
      Perhaps the authors whose hubs you are commenting on simply haven't been active and haven't had a chance to check the queue.  Or perhaps you are leaving comments that the authors think are unproductive.

      Have you checked whether your comments on hubs are actually missing or are just delayed? Some hubbers check the comments on their hubs before they approve and display them, which may explain your problem.

      I've not been able to be active on Hub pages for the past year.  I discovered comments waiting for approval sometimes weeks after they had been made.  :-(  They did get published, but I felt bad that it took so long.

      There are lots of reasons why comments don't appear on Hubs.   Bear in mind,most Hubbers have their Hubs set up so that they must approve comments before they appear.   So:
      
      1. a Hubber may be on vacation - so comments won't be approved until they get back.
      
      2. a Hubber may not be active on the site any more, but has left their Hubs published - in this case, they should've disabled comments since they're not around to approve them, but many people forget.
      
      3.  Your comments may have accidentally landed in the Spam folder, and many Hubbers forget to check it regularly.
      
      4.  If you've made meaningless comments like "Good Hub", many Hubbers will delete them because such comments add no value to other readers, and dilute keywords.
      
      5.  Finally, if you're putting links in your comments, they ARE spammy and will be deleted.

   Unless they have other recent comments, I would assume they are an inactive hubber.

   @Marissa Wright- you have mentioned two things I have a question/comment about. Is the spam folder you refer to in Hubpages or your own personal email account? And, comments are tied to keywords? I don't quite understand how they can dilute keywords. So much to learn!

      Go to "My Account", click on "Comments" in the top bar, and then you'll see a drop down box called "Filter".  Select "Spam" and you'll see any comments which have been classified as spam.
      
      When Google judges at a Hub (or any online article), it's not done by human beings, it's done by automated systems (often called robots).  Those robots can't read sense, so the only way they can guess what your Hub is about is to look at the words you use and how often you use them.  If, for instance, you often use words relating to belly dance in your Hub, the robots will decide your Hubis about belly dancing.
      
      The trouble arises if you get into a situation where you have lots of people making meaningless comments or irrelevant comments.  It can add a lot of extra words to your Hub, to the point where the robots start to get confused about your topic.
