Am I Destroying HP Finances with Regular Tweaks to Pages?

   I'm on an update drive with my pages here.
   
   If I change a few words here and there is the page going to be sent to MTurk?
   
   My natural sense of not wasting money (even if it is not mine) is interfering with the urge to improve the odd sentence.

      My understanding is that admin wants us to edit Hubs. It's supposed to trigger Google in some way and improve traffic.
      
      If the Hubs are unfeatured and you edit them they go through QAP and, I guess, Mturk. If they are still featured before you tweek them, the score can go down but I know you don't get the swirly pending icon; meaning, they just stay featured.

         Although, just realized I've never known the answer to your question; I mean, I've thought about it, I've wondered if the Hubs go back through Mturk even when they are still featured prior to edited; because they go through some kind of QAP, because the score will change.

      We are being governed by third world countries.....the whims of such, that most can not even begin to speak, and most certainly not begin to comprehend the English language.

      This is such a considerate thing to ask, thank you Will! We definitely want Hubbers to update Hubs, even if it's just correcting a few typos here and there. There are a number of factors that go into whether a Hub receives a human rating or not, but the gist is that we aren't paying for ratings for every single Hub, so please don't be concerned about editing.

         Thanks for that reassurance, Christy. I am out of touch with stuff here.
         
         I usually need to go through a page several times over several days to iron out the half-wit typos I am prone to. The thought of someone reassessing the page every time offends the Taylorist in me, if nothing else.

            Paul E. has been encouraging us to update our hubs whenever possible. Any time I do so, I see an uptick across the sub-domain.  That benefits HP and you, so go clean it up!

      There is another way to view this.
      
      The more you tweak, the better the hub becomes.  The better it is, the more views it will receive.  The more views it receives, the more money HP and you will receive...hopefully enough to cover the cost of the edits.  In the end, I think everybody wins.

   Unless I have some major editing to do, I do not unpublish a hub. I just go in, edit quickly and get right back out. The hub remains featured and seldom does the score drop. Now, if I have to unpublish for major editing then when I publish again the hub will go back through QAP and the score will drop a few points. I don't know if it goes to MTurk again.

   I am a big fan of QAP. It keeps the worst of the dross out.
   
   But if changing a couple of words triggers Mturk and an Mturk review costs ten dollars (not sure exactly how much to be honest), I will probably cost HP a thousand dollars over the next few months.
   
   It would be nice to know that this was not the case and I could make minor edits without guilt.

      The MTurk pays in the range of $0.05 and $0.15. They do have a bonus for quality productivity. My theory is that a Hub goes through Mturk as a new Hub or one being treated as new. Treated as new means to me it loses the Feature Status. That is lack of traffic and quality. The only time I have heard in the forums a hub being unfeatured due to quality is for spammy elements. That can be determined by a crawl too. I have never heard it was due to content.

   EVERY TIME you edit a Hub, it goes through QAP which means it goes to MTurk and costs HubPages money.   It is only a few cents, but it would mount up, given how many Hubs there are.
   
   More importantly, though - HubPages' intention was that all Hubs would go through QAP eventually, but if the MTurk queue is continually clogged with newly edited Hubs, there is no spare capacity to vet older Hubs. Which means the old dross persists. 
   
   I've often done minor tweaks in the past - I'll think twice now!
