    Hi,

I am totally a novice at this, but am very interested in being a great participant in all things hub! I love writing and sharing information, reading and learning from others. I have a lot to share, but need to know how best to go about it for a great following. Not in the purposes of spamming, but for all the reasons why everyone else does smile

So what's the scoop, how do I meet more people and how do I get my hubs read by a wide range of people?

Welcome, Leila!  Thanks for writing your Hub on DJing!  You seem to have gotten the purpose of HubPages:  share what you know and are passionate about.  It sounds like you have a lot of knowledge about music to share; I'm looking forward to reading it.  smile

    Glad you're here.

There is a lot to learn here at Hubpages and it's a place conducive to learning about how to write web articles that have quality and that will get traffic on the Web; via practice, experimentation, research and advice from experienced authors.

As far as getting traffic to your Hubs, the best way is through the search engine; primarily Google. How to do that has to be learned. You have to have some SEO knowledge and how to research which keywords/keyphrases are being searched for through the search engine and which ones you are likely to place for in search engine results pages. For a good basic guide on how to do this, it's a good idea to visit Wrylilt here on HP and read her Hub on using Google Suggest for creating search-friendly titles for your Hubs. There are other methods other than the one she offers, but her method is relatively easy to apply.

Hi Leila, welcome! Love your enthusiasm. Your questions are loaded, hard to give the right answers. Writing here is a whirlwind, you will love it and hate it, all in one. The meme from paradigmsearch is so true. HP can change your life depending how much time and effort you invest. Start writing about what you know and what you're passionate about. Build up your collection of articles, read other hubbers work, comment on hubs you like, ask questions, be involved as your schedule will allow. Be aware that it can be addictive. Overall, it's an exciting and worth whlie venture. Good luck, have fun! smile

Hi Leila, Welcome to HubPages.  You’ll find that there are many great Hubbers here who are glad to give guidance, not only in the forums but with helpful hubs as well.

The advice NateB11 gave is important to help with the success of getting reader traffic. And I agree with him that you should check out Wrylilt’s hubs.  I already applied what I learned from her.

In addition, if you haven’t found it yet, HubPages has a learning center. Start by clicking “Help” at the top right of any page and you’ll see a link to the learning center.

As for getting known, when I first started here I found the best way is to read other hubs and leave meaningful comments. This can attract the author of that other hub, and it can also attract other hubbers who see your comments.  Just don’t ask for people to read your hubs. That will turn people off.  When you get yourself out there, as you are doing, they will come.  This builds over time. I still do it because I learn a lot from other Hubbers. HubPages has become a resource of tremendous information on a variety of subjects.

In addition to traffic from other Hubbers, you really want to focus on search engine traffic (known as organic traffic). As Robin said, write what you know and what you are passionate about. That will make Google recognize your authority on the subject and eventually build up traffic in your music niche.

Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the ride!

The best advice I can give is to just write about something you are passionate about, that people will be interested in, look to improve as you go, promote your work and get involved with the Hubpages community.

    Welcome, and Good Luck !

Also, depending on what type of hubs you are writing, look for forums that get a lot of traffic to promote your hubs.

E.g. I mainly do music gear/songwriting reviews and have found thegearpage.net to be very fruitful traffic-wise.

Also I've started writing a journal on my trip to India, and tripadvisor.co.uk has come in handy here.

This is, of course in addition to the included Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ integration that Hubpages provides.
