I'm organizing my HP photos in HP

I had saved all my hubs in separate maps on an external hard disc. Each hub in its own map in which I also stored all the photos I had used in that hub. Last year that hard disc crashed beyond repair and it was the only one I had forgotten to make a backup from. I mainly use my own photos. The originals I don't touch. I make a copy, work on it if necessary, resize and crop and put it in the hub map I needed it for. All neatly organized. But as I said I had lost all those hub photos.

However they were still sitting in my hubs and in the HP photos (in my account), but that was all messed up because you can upload the same photo over and over, change photos, upload new ones.

In order to get my hub photos back on my computer, I started to create some order in the HP photos.
First I created some group albums, like garden, poetry, photography, recipe, landscape, holidays, family and so on. Then I started to add each photo to their group album. That's a hel of a job, because I use many photos in my hubs. It took me a few weeks to complete that. Quite often my browser slowed down and then I had to wait till it recupereted itself or had to shut down and restart the computer. I sometimes started with the last photos, sometimes with the first ones. All by all it took me a couple of weeks to get it all done.

Then when you open an album and click on a photo, it will show you in which hub it is used. Then I closed the photo and clicked on 'choose an album' underneath the photo and wrote the name of the hub it was used in. I made a special album called 'random' for photos that weren't used in any hub.

So now I open a hub in my browser and also open the photogallery in HP. I edit the hub when necessary, delete photos, add new photos in their proper album. After I'm done editing I copy each photo in that hub and put it back on my pc in its proper hub map. In the HP photo album I delete all photos that haven't been used anymore in that hub.

It's a lot of work, but I'm glad I started it, because it makes me read my hubs again and make them all comply with the HP rules. I copy/paste my titles and subtitles in capitalizemytitle.com  and I copy/paste each text capsule in my Word and let it run through spelling and grammar, which I have set to English. As English is not my native language it's a big help for me. Then I put the correct text back into the hub.

As I said, al lot of work but it pays off. Two of my revised/republished hubs immediately got transferred to the niche sites.

And I'm over here like "Oh well if Hubpages ever crashes or I lose my account, waybackmachine will have my back."

Well not really, because the wayback machine only takes snapshots.  It doesn't have a copy of every single thing on the web.

Well in that case, I'll just go copy one of the 1,000 duplicates of my hubs hanging around forums, spam sites, blog sites, medical sites (found one on a dentist's the other day!) et al.

I just "save as" every hub into a folder on Dropbox. Everything is there, complete, as it appears on the web. The files open in my default browser and can be copied and pasted in order to be edited. Although it has never been necessary to do so.

I had done that when we were still Squids, but after the move they got all messed up due to HP's different rules. I now copy/paste them in a word doc and save them on my pc so I know exactly in what order text and photos are used.
