Making money from Amazon links

   I just finished reading through the Amazon Associates Program Policies and the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement.  I have some idea on what to do.  However, there were a few questions that I still had and that I was wondering if anyone here on Hubpages could answer.  First of all, I know that I have to open up an Amazon Associate's account before I can even consider monetizing on Amazon links in my Hubs.  However, do I have to have an approved Google Adsense Account to be eligible to participate in the Amazon Program?  I was thinking that the Amazon Program was completely independent of Google Adsense and that I could start making money off of it right away without worrying about whether or not my Google Adsense account got approved.  Second of all, which is the better way to incorporate Amazon links into my Hubs?  Should I do them as hot links in which the reader clicks on a particular word and that brings him or her to the Amazon advertisement?  Or should I just incorporate the entire ad in the text of the Hub?  Third of all, how many Amazon links or Amazon ads can I incorporate in each Hub?  My understanding was that two Amazon links or Amazon ads were the limit.  However, upon reading the Amazon Associates Policies, I was given the understanding that I could incorporate as many as THREE such Amazon links or ads in each Hub.  I know my forum questions were a little lengthier than normal, but I want to do everything the right way before I start working to earn money through Amazon, because I know that it is so easy to mess up with the Amazon Program.

      Glenn's answer is correct, and I'd like to add that you should only include Amazon products in articles where it is absolutely necessary for the reader's experience, and be sure to include your own personal experience with the product and details about why you're including it.

   Amazon is completely different to Adsense and FAR more lucrative, personally I don't use Adsense at all. Only Amazon - I've not been affiliated long but I do know some people who are making $5K+ just by being an affiliate, and by taking specific training on the same platform that I have a business on.

   You have two options.
   
   1. You can sign up directly as an Amazon Affiliate and put your affiliate code in your HubPages account (My Account > Earnings > Settings).  There is no need for Google Adsense in that case.
   
   2. Or you can sign up for the HubPages Earnings Program and optionally include Amazon with that. But in this case the prerequisite is that you already have an active Adsense account.
   
   The second option is preferred by most Hubbers since there are more opportunities to earn. That's because HubPages uses other ad agencies in addition to Adsense for placement of ads.
