Nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court is a teachable moment.

   What do I mean by that?
   Today in american politics and in our media, we are bombarded with distortions and spin and lies and fake news, all in an effort to confuse and confound the american people. It is hard to separate the truth from fiction and more importantly, who should we trust as leaders and judges and legislators who are suppose to work for us - the people.
   
   In the nomination of a supreme justice, it is a serious business. His or her decisions could have 40-50 years of impact on our lives. Unlike Presidents who serve at most 8 years, or Senators or congressmen, who in theory are voted on every 6 or 2 years...
   This position is a life time appointment.
   
   Getting back to the teachable moment...
   You can do a little analysis by studying the background of this judge but more so, you can gleam some insight about his supporters and detractors. Are they truthful? Are they partisan? Are they just a good or bad person?
   
   Take Senator Chuck Schumer of NY for example. His statement and criticism of Judge Gorsuch way over the top. It shows 2 things for me. He, Senator Schumer, has very little understanding or respect for our Constitution. Second, he is practicing partisan politics in the worst way. It also shows him to be a nasty and small person. You can disagree politically with someone and still be respectful. Senator Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, both leaders of the Democratic Party have failed in this case dealing with this nomination.
   
   Finally, here is the bottom line. If judge Gorsuch, with his stellar credentials, is unacceptable in their opinion to serve on the supreme court, then the conclusion would have to be, no other Conservative/independent Originalist judge will be acceptable to these officials. How sad is that?

      Pretty sad.  We saw it last year as well, but with the excuse (excuse, not reason) that it would only last a few months.  Now we see it again, but this time it is little but political posturing coupled with revenge - a noble thing while the country waits to once more have the highest court in the nation operating as designed.
      
      As you point out, there is zero chance that a liberal judge will be suggested, much less appointed, and that doesn't leave much reason outside of petty and revenge.  That and rearing up on the hind legs to show how powerful we are - we can force delays in filling the needs of the country!.

   I thought at one time the CIA had a pill or powder that would make someone "look " like the died of a heart attack ,  perhaps for Nancy Pelosi ,   something happened to the drink mix ?...............:-]
