Do people usually check individual forums, or do they typically look at: 'all new forum activity'?
Just wondering what the trend is...
I usually check the new posts on the front page of the forums.
I check the front page but if I am posting something I look for the correct Forum.
I base my entire life on the teachings of BC99 and his prophet CG.
Same here. Sometimes I will go way back if there is nothing that interests me that is recent.
i've only just started here, but I find myself using the first page of the forum more often than not.
I check forums individually, because quite frankly even the titles on many of the individual topics in religion and politics upset me. So I just look to the left and check out - Knowledge Exchange, Need Help, Hubbers Hangout, and 30 Day Challenge.
I just look on the left at knowledge exchange and need help..the new forum posts are usually time stealing nonsense like word games and sacred text thumping
Every couple of days I'll use the following "forum system":
Quick scan of announcements, quick scan of knowledge exchange (in case there's something I can learn), quick scan of the two or three categories I'm most interested in. If there's nothing to read or offer in any of those, and if I'm looking for something to do, I'll then scan the main bunch of new threads (or at least the first couple of pages of them).
The rest of the time I'll often just leave the forum up in a window, even if I'm doing other stuff on the PC - and then I'll just pop on and look at what shows up in the main group of new threads to see if anything catches my eye. If you have tedious or draining work you're doing on the PC taking mini-breaks for "foolishness" (not that all the threads are foolish) can prevent headaches. If I see a thread that "inspires" me - there's my unplanned coffee break.
i typically scan the first page of activity then check out the groups I participate in
I only keep an eye on the HubPages-oriented forums and ignore all the flaming and spam in the others.
I try to ignore the latest posts section and just click on the forums that interest me, on the left.
And most of the time it's need help forum.
I see you a lot there and its good as you are quite a help.

Whenever I open the forums, I see countless threads by the same people, many of them unanswered or with only a couple of comments. I would love to see a limit on how many threads the same person can open daily. I often have to go to page 2 or 3 to see what else people are...

Is it a trend or is it being initiated by HP? Just curious.

There are a lot of us who haven't been feeling safe on the forums. They've felt stalked, harassed and browbeaten.Sadly, some folks go with the letter of the law, but not the spirit of it in their posts. For an excellent post on why we need Forum Moderators, check out what Makingamark says here...

I believe this has been addressed before but can we please revisit it. I have very little interest in the religion and political forum threads yet they seem to occupy 75%+ of the latest activity. It's an inconvenience to have to browse through Jesus this and Obama that just trying to read on topics...

I jumped into WebAnswers a few weeks ago. I find I get plenty of WebAnswers help there from the community, although there are no forums. Community help is structured through questions and answers, so, no religion and politics and no just-for-fun discussions. It's all about business. I feel I'm...
