In recent times, a few accidents have occurred with US naval vessels...
You have to wonder what is going on here?
Don't they have radar and GPS and satellites and warning systems?
Why are these accidents occurring when we have all these technologies available?
How about our sailors? Are they trained properly or are we so distracted with gender identity and other human rights issues that they are not properly trained in their main job...running a war ship.
I recently had a chance to visit Annapolis, the home of the naval academy.
I am impressed with the school and the long history of the US navy.
Why is this occuring with increasing frequency?
I am baffled to say the least...
For once we are on the same page, Jack... That was my first thought when I saw this headline, "What in the world is going on? Don't we have advanced technologies to prevent this?" One once in a while doesn't seem to be so weird, but why so many in such a short time? Something seems awfully fishy.
Only once...I thought we agree on more than that...haha
More and more ship systems are tied to the Internet. Someone is hacking the navigation systems and steering the ships off course.
It's a known problem and a major worry for security experts.
What about the sailers and navigators? don't they have visual sightings? and if they know about this problem, where are the cyber defenses?
It cost a heck of a lot less than to haves one of these ships involved with accidents and sailors loosing their lives in peace time and embarrassment to the US government...
it just doesn't look good.
Yeah, seems like 'the old ways' - even ancient ways with a lookout sitting up in the crows nest would work better.
They tend to happen at night in congested areas when visibility is poor. If the ship is going slow or even still for some reason, it may not have time to get out of the way.
Some of these ships are very large. It can take time to turn them.
Note that the four recent collisions happened in Asia Pacific waters. North Korea and China both have very advanced cyber warfare capabilities, and both want to push the U.S. out of the area.
The bow of the cargo ship that hit the Fitzgerald directly hit the commander's cabin. Gee, what a coincidence ...
