President Trump just set an example by donating 1 million dollars

   To help with the Hurricane Harvey recovery.
   What about others? Clintons, Pelosi, McConnell?... to name just a few...
   
   Let me do the math.
   There are 300 million in us.
   A .1 percent will be 300,000 people.
   Assume 3 per family that will mean 100,000 households who are well off.
   If each donated $1 million pm average, that will be 100 Billion.
   How great would that be?
   How about it, Bill Gates, George Soros, Cook, Bezos, Musk...all you captains of industry..
   And Streisand, and Penn, DeCaprio, Perry... Hollywood...
   How about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton...
   The source is endless...

      You are assuming he will actually make a donation rather than just blowing hot air like usual.
      
      Trump's charity promises have been empty in the past. Even the right-wing Forbes magazine looks on his alleged charity efforts with contempt.

               Of course, one might compare that promise, to donate 1/4000 of his wealth, to the percentage of his wealth Gates has promised to the recovery effort.  Hardly fair, though - that would require something like 20M to match the promise.

         I take him at his word...if he doesn't follow through, I am sure the media will be all over it.
         The money Gates and Buffett and Soros donated were to foundations...
         As far as I know, they have not come out and donate to this tragedy..

         President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are donating $1 million to 12 charities involved in Harvey relief efforts. The White House says the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse and Reachout America will share $800,000 of the donation. The Trumps are giving $25,000 each to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Catholic Charities, Direct Relief, Habitat for Humanity, Houston Humane Society, Operation Blessing, Portlight Inclusive Disaster Strategies and Team Rubicon.
