Can I take a previously published blog post and turn it into an article on Hubpages. Basically, can I refurbish a popular blog post and turn it into an article? Thx!
To do this you would have to delete the original article and wait until it is de indexed by Google. Update it perhaps with a new title, different photos, etc and then maybe you can post it here. However, while you are waiting for it to clear the indexing, anybody can copy and publish it. Then, you'd lose it completely.
Best advice is to write about the same topic but start fresh and try not to use the same wordage when writing the hub.
TT2, if it's on a blog then it's very unlikely that it's been copied by anyone. It's always worth checking of course, if (as the OP says) the blog post was very popular.
HubPages and other large sites are targets for article thieves because they are SO large. Thieves don't bother searching through hundreds of small blogs, because they can come straight to HubPages and find dozens of articles on any subject they want.
It's a trade-off really. Publishing on HubPages, you benefit from the high visibility - but the price is your work is more likely to get stolen.
Yes you can, provided it's been deleted from the blog at least a week ago.
My only caution would be that Hubs are generally much, much longer than the average blog post. Hubs should be at least 800 words long and ideally, you should aim for the "sweet spot" at 1,500 words. And you don't want to achieve that goal by padding out a blog post with waffle, you want it to be good information.
You can't submit anything that already exists on the web, even if you are the copyright owner. The duplicate content filter will catch it and it will be rejected. Your refurbishing would have to be so extensive that very little of the original post remained.
If the post no longer exists online you can use all or parts of it here, as long as you are the copyright owner and no other agreements prevent it, of course.
You could always write an new article about the same topic. You've already done the research, so it should be easy enough.

Just a quick post to highlight that Paul has created a new post on the blog, giving a summary of what's happening post Panda and why HP has taken the action he has.I'm a little disappointed that he hasn't addressed Hubbers' main concern - which is not WHAT HubPages has done, but HOW they've done...

I don’t think they did it on purpose, but I just saw on my feed an article which is almost the same as an article I wrote around a year ago. What do I do, comment on their article with a link to mine or just leave it? I don’t want to lose traffic but also don’t want to upset that person or make...

What would happen if there is a double topic on HP? Does the author who writes the first one has the right to email the editors to delete the second article? TY
