Could I lose by being featured?

   A moderator snipped my page, which was doing well, despite not being featured. I pulled the article, because my Amazon capsule was removed. Presumably that means I make less from the article? Plus, is there a way to let the moderator know I don't want my page snipped?

   I'm interested in your question for two reasons. 
   
   One, if a Hub is not featured, then it's invisible to Google and the only visitors you're going to get are from social networks, or people you've sent the link to.  So I'd love to know how you're achieving good traffic from those sources. 
   
   Two, most Hubbers find they make most of their income from views, and sales from Amazon capsules are just a bonus.  So although I do get annoyed when an Amazon capsule is snipped, it would rarely justify removing the article. 
   
   Anyhow, I'd suggest publishing the article again and then posting a link so we can see it and give you some useful feedback.
   
   As for letting the moderator know - you can argue the case by writing to team @ Hubpages.com, but you don't get to choose whether they snip or not.   If the capsule breaks the rules, you will not be allowed to use it.
   
   I suggest taking a look at my Hub on the Basic Rules (it's on the slider on my profile).  Looking at some of your other Hubs, your Amazon products are "illegal" under current rules and you're likely to find more of them getting snipped.

   Marisa already pointed out the important parts of the "snipping" issue, so I would like to discuss "doing well". What is doing well? 10 visits per day, or 1000? It is different for all of us, but if your article is not getting over 100 visits per day it is not doing well.
   If your article is not featured, it is invisible to all but those people that share it, and it is never really doing well. You stand to make a lot more on the article by it being visible to the search engines.

      Hello both, Nothing I write does well against a general comparison, but I tweaked my title and seemed to get more hits after I did that. I did nothing else at all, so it seems I'm not invisible to Google. Because I get little traffic, the Amazon capsule forms a greater proportion of my earnings. HP puts quite a lot of advertising on my hubs so I really think they should look at rules regarding this, especially as I can't discuss it with a machine!

         Have you looked at where your traffic coming from?
         
         When a Hub is unFeatured, it has a "no follow" label attached to it.  That label tells Google to ignore it.  so if you are getting any hits from Google, I would be really interested because it shouldn't be happening.
         
         The most important thing is for you to understand the rules for Amazon, because it looks like most of your Amazon capsules break the rules and you need to fix them pronto.  You're getting away with it now, but if a moderator sees them, you'll find that more Hubs get unfeatured.

         A few more hits means absolutely nothing. One from you, one from Google, one from the QAP, one from HP, etc. You are not going to earn anything until you start getting multiple page views every day.
         You are not going to make much on Amazon unless your hubs are visited more often.
         By the way, HP is not making anything off of you. Do you really feel they owe you something just because there is advertising on your hubs, and no one even sees that advertising?

            I don't come to the forum to express my feelings but to get information. Obviously you do well here if you fit into a certain kind of writing straight jacket, but I dont fit into that straightjacket very well. Hubpages being one of the few places left online where a writer can hope to earn any money at all, obviously I have to try to fit, but as you have kindly pointed out, its a struggle.

               It is not a straightjacket, it is called writing so that the readers can learn from your writing. If you are not able to write for your readers, maybe you should just start your own blog and then you can write whatever you want? Who knows, you may even have some readers, and no one is going to unfeature you.

                        You don't have to use American English. As long it is a correct version of English, that's fine. I am from the UK and many of my hubs are written in English English
                        
                        However, I have come to accept that HP editors are American and will impose their 'corrections' on my work. To be honest, as long as I'm earning from the hubs, I don't care what version of English is used.

                           It is a question of style. A writer has a style, otherwise the work can and probably will be be written by an autobot. If I cannot use a term like laissez faire because the bot has determined that I am writing in French and not English, that screws up my style. And eventually that bot will take away your earnings too.

                              I was born Scottish and have lived in Australia for over 30 years, and I don't make ANY attempt to adapt my Hubs to suit Americans.  Sometimes HubPages changes my spelling and if so, I leave it be.  All my Hubs are featured, so it's clearly not that much of an issue.
                              
                              In my Hubs on dance, I often use French and Spanish terms and have never had a problem with that, either.
                              
                              From your post, I worried that maybe you were one of those creative prima donnas who "just wants to write", but looking at your Hubs, that's clearly not the case.  You know how to choose commercial subjects and write about them informatively.  I think your problem is simply that you're not up to date with the new standards which have been introduced.  Your text is fine, but you need to find two or three images to illustrate each Hub, not just one (Pixabay and Pexels are a good source and require no attribution).  Ideally, see if you can find a relevant video which you can place at the end of your Hub, that always helps.   And, of course, you need to fix the Amazon capsules.

                                    I did not say they owe me, I was pointing out that their advertising does not have to obey the stringent regulations they apply to our capsules.

                                 Thanks for the tips. I looked up your rules hub and will also put that into practice. I much prefer dealing with human beings over algorythms and bots.

   Now that you have explained about the no follow message, I can see how I may have unintentionally got around it. This no follow message seems to me to be profoundly unethical and the reason why some writers despair of ever making any money on HP.
   
   Regarding my Amazon capsules, I try hard to make them relevant to the subject of my hub, can you tell me where I am going wrong.
