"Facebook to show less content from publishers and brands"
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technolo … spartandhp

I certainly haven't had much success with it. And now it is only going to get worse. I'm even fed up enough I'm probably killing off the icon on my profile page.

    What say you?

I don't have the ability, or the attention span to just sit and write for very long at a time. I may spend a few days before I decide what the next paragraph to something I'm working on should be. But because I'm in at least one hundred groups which are very very related to what I write about, several times every day I see a post in a Facebook group where me sharing one of my links would be perfectly acceptable and useful for me, and everyone.

Not that Facebook traffic is sustainable, or exceptionally profitable, but who knows what amazon sales I've generated in this way.

I really think they are referring to those ads that look like posts that keep showing up in your feed. If someone shares your article, that's different. Having someone else share your article is the only way FaceBook has ever been of any benefit to hubbers, and I don't think that's going to change.

Google AdSense offers very little revenue for Facebook visitors, at least on sites where I have access to analytics. AdSense is much more generous with Google visitors.

      Surprise, surprise.

For whatever reason, I get a fair amount of traffic from facebook and pinterest. It's not from my sharing my work.

Rocket surgeon that I am, it finally occurred to me to check my audience stats. I, too, get daily traffic from facebook. And same as you, it is not from sharing my own work. So, there is at least that.

This is a good move for FB. Quality, not quantity.

I am not a Publisher or a Brand but a solo user who is a real person sharing things I find interesting, and find it works very well for me.

You guys are just trying to cheer me up. big_smile

But I am still reasonably certain that shared articles go nowhere except your account. And if you start a facebook page (like I did), then you are really dead.

If what you share is often clicked or liked by your followers they keep seeing it.  Facebook is about giving people what they want, if they want to see your posts they will be served them.

Agreed with your comment. but if we want more visitors, audience for our sharing then how can we get their attraction?

Well, it helps to actually write something. You have no articles.

I've had a Facebook page for my creative work since 2010. It's gone from being a useful way to keep my followers updated about what I'm doing, to virtually impossible to reach those followers. If my post has a link in it, it reaches barely 1% of the people following my page.

So, I use my FB page for two things: to share into groups related to whatever it is I'm posting today, and to convert anyone who visits my FB page into an email subscriber. Social media is fine, but invariably, a platform screws its users by trying to monetize them, making it useless for anyone who doesn't have the marketing budget to pay for views. But that email subscriber list? It's worth its weight in gold.

Well, I couldn't help myself. I made two FB posts on my page. One was entertainment. The other would have brought a minor, but permanent improvement to the reader's quality of life. The results? 2 and 4 people reached respectively. I need to remember the definition of insanity and start listening to it:

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I have no idea how things get on to facebook, but my sharing them does not get them shared. However, I have had articles that have had daily traffic from facebook for years. It never lets up. Quitea few articles, in fact.

Yeah, I've given up on trying to be proactive about it. Whatever FB traffic floats my way, so be it. Mine is not that bad either. We most certainly want to keep the hub FB and Pinterest icons.

I have gone viral several times on Facebook, which led to very high but very short bursts of traffic. In terms of regular traffic, I've found Facebook far too unpredictable due to the fact that content disappears as soon as it's no longer fresh. Give me Pinterest any day - it's great for pushing old content up high!

      Bolding done by me.

So exceedingly true. HP is still sending out over a hundred 404's a day because of a scrap I had with an editor.

How does one get pinterest to push up articles? While I get traffic from pinterest, it's not a result of my posting anything there.

Nothing I know of, just natural traffic and clicks on the hub Pinterest button.

I'm not sure about my memory but I believe that we were told by HP that it was not good to share our own Hubs on FB but to share other Hubbers Hubs ?
Correct me if I'm wrong !

Facebook has become selective in what they allow to be promoted in this manner. Not only that but they've been caught hiding some content from everyone but the person who posted it as well as altering the content based on the person reading it.

It's clear that Facebook wishes to control what people see and as such it's probably best to let others share your hubs naturally but not to create facebook pages specifically to share your content on facebook.

There is also the issue of duplicate content. It's possible that if your hub appears on Facebook verbatim that the Facebook copy outranks or outperforms the original which would be counter-productive.

My advice, focus on Hubpages and let Facebook sort itself out by others who share your great content. This is probably the best approach with every other social network as well given that they are all moving in the same direction.

    Hope that helps.

P.S. hubpages offers ways of keeping your readers updated, if you want to promote anything on Facebook try promoting your hubpages feed instead, or better yet get your facebook friends to become hubpages members so they receive hubpages updates!
