All of the covers are from websites where the designer adds your author name and book title after you've purchased it. I'm uncertain which to get, so may I ask your opinion? Which of these covers, A, B, or C, do you like the most for a fantasy short story?
Hi Poppy
I somehow prefer A, C, B in that order. The look of mystery...
Thank you, threekeys!
I actually agree with you. I just wish that A had the vibrant lighting of B.
Welcoming more opinions!
A infers someone whose life was worthy of noting for history because of her resistance to slavery etc and perhaps fought back in a way to be remembered
If your short story is fantasy future or cosmos setting, then C seems the best choice.
If your short story is about one person and her life experiences such as an actress, Diva, royalty then B would fit.
Without pre-judgement I would pic A C B
I think of fantasy as being magical / supernatural. Trying not to let the titles on those covers influence me what I see is:
A) Demure, innocent, betrayed
B) Alluring, determined, dominating
C) Sensual, inquisitive, amazed
My choice would be C . . .
Movies that choice reminds me of is Ladyhawke and Star Wars.
A is too pastel for me. B is a little earthy. C would be stronger with a different font color.
I altered the contrast on A and I think it helps. My opinion.
B screams FANTASY book all over. C looks like a book from the mystery or thriller genre (and oh, it could also work for a dark fantasy story). As for A, it makes me feel like it's more apt for a horror book or a story with ghosts or spirits. Fantasy genre-wise, it's B. But personally, i choose C.
I vote for A. That is my favorite, yet I feel like I need to know more about the story. To me, the mood of the cover must match the mood of the story. What type of book is it? I'd pick the A for fantasy, B for action drama and C for romance.
I like option A because of the color and layout. I feel the other covers don't fit because this is a fantasy and the other covers look a little seductive, and there's nothing wrong with that. The cool color of option A and the thoughtful look of dreaming on the girl's face could lend itself to fantasy.

I have to say, I don't like any of them. None of them give me any clue what the story is about - especially B, which could easily be from a fashion shoot.
Are you paying for this cover? How are you publishing it? Have you considered going to Flickr, finding a nice photo and approaching the photographer for permission to use it (some will charge, some will be so delighted at being asked they'll let you have it). Or go to Dreamstime and buy an image.
The risk with buying stock book covers is that you're going to get the same cover that's already been used elsewhere, e.g.

Hi Marisa!
Actually, I don't *love* any of them either.
On some sites they say they won't re-sell a cover once it's published, but I suppose it didn't apply for that site. Since I posted this question, a designer approached me saying she wanted to design one for me, which is nice.
I probably won't end up buying them since I'm not in love with any of them haha. Thanks for finding that link for me.
That's great! Just in case it doesn't work out, consider somewhere like Canva where you can design your own cover. It's not that hard.
It's hard to say without knowing what your book is about. But i like A the best

Can the book cover be a picture in my review?

Hiya,I just signed up to Hubpages today (because I only just found it!) and I'm looking to start reviewing books on here. I was going to start with a few of my favourites simply because I think they're a good place to really get my creative juices flowing, then I'd want to move onto more unknown...

Book cover for a self published bookWhere is the best place to have a cover made for an e book? Apparently even a self published book for the kindle should have an amazing cover.

Hello,I was wondering if anyone could give some quick feedback on my book cover. It was created by two graphic artist students at my university. The three of us are looking for feedback. Would it be ok if you told me your immediate thoughts? (Good and bad feedback welcome)Thank...

Is there a decent way to build a book cover on my smartphone or tablet?I need to replace my computer but I would rather buy a tablet instead of a new laptop. I think I have figured out just about everything except building covers for the books I write.
