WHAT IS THE ESSENCE OF POETRY?

Many people like poetry. I think they can gain a deeper understanding from the author through poetry.  They can read a story, a lie, an event, and more, by reading poetry. I myself have told many things, by writing poetry.

Poetry has many uses; however, the most influential works of poetry stem from universal truths, meaning a truth of which anyone can connect.  For example, the poem "Fire and Ice" by Robert Frost.  In this poem, Frost asks his reader if they would prefer to meet their end in fire or ice.  The reader's job is then to deliberate how each would be different and what that means according to passion.  The essence of poetry is to carry the reader to a place they may have otherwise overlooked; sometimes it is interpersonal, and other times it is global.

Poetry reveals the world with its own rhythm and, depending on the author, attempts to connect the reader to the world around them.

Essence, meaning substance? What is it made of? We could be  literal and say lines, stanzas, rhyme scheme, meter, poetic devices, images. Or, we could be figurative and say metaphors and symbols. From the metaphysical standpoint we could say that poetry combines auditory and visual sensory material with our memories to provide us with a feeling, mood, or idea. Being a teacher, I think that I would say to you, "Why are you asking this question? What does it mean to you?" Because, as you assess your reasons for asking it, you will come to understand what it means for you, and what you must do when you come up to it face to face.

it is different for everyone it depends on what your essence is. i published a book of poetry in 2007 it listed with all the major book stores and online venders. basiclly if you are angry , so is your poetry, if you are hurt, so is your poetry, if you are honest ,so is your poetry , poetry is different, evolving, simple, complex, short, long winded, mean, hateful, loving, misguided! its hard to pinpoint one specific thing! just go with whats in your heart and in your mind! i have never read a bad poem because its all about what that person is feeling and is trying to tell or show the rest of the world. peace bruh hope my words helped u a lil!

Poetry takes you to another place in a way that prose can never do.

The conveyance of emotion from writer to reader.

I believe that the essence of poetry lies not in any structural code or influence, but rather in the depth of meaning conveyed through emotional script.  It seeks universality in order to make connections that are deeper and more meaningful to the reader.  A good poem asks questions of us and/or causes us to pause and reflect.  It is a literary device to end all devices and I love it.

Deep thought which can vary from emotion to awareness, regarding the topic. But it have to be deep to make the writer so caught into it and created meaningful lines in the end.
