As Baby Boomer would you lose 8 years of life so younger people can have health insurance?
The Obama Universal Health Plan will take a vast array of services away from the elderly (Baby Boomers) and transfer the savings into preventive care for those far younger than us. The end result some say is a shortened life span for 75 million boomers...the average is 5-8 years of a shortened life. If you are a Baby Boomer, are you willing to pay the price of a shortened life span to implement Obama's grand experiment in socialized medicine?
The idea behind healthcare reform is pretty much the opposite of what you suggest. By adding more healthy, young people to the insurance pool, it helps to cover the expensive costs of the more sickly elderly. So, basically, if anyone is complaining here, it should be the younger people who will be footing the bill for the large group of aging baby boomers.
Baloney, right now the US is rated 37th in overall health care and longevity by the WHO. Canadians live a little longer in spite of our so called "socialized medicine" which is actually a mix of private and public services, Our basic medical care is mandated by federal law and each province must abide by the law provide basic medical care universally available to all citizens and legal residents regardless of income, The govt has passed some legislation increasing the taxes on booze and cigarettes making them very expensive. Cigarettes cost over $70 a carton, so smoking gets to be a very expensive habit.
I honestly do NOT believe the elderly would suffer cuts in medical services with a Universal Health Plan. However, in answer to your question.. OF COURSE! What decent parent/grandparent wouldn't relenquish 5-8 years?!
LOL!! I can tell that you are young.. otherwise you'd know that 5-8 years is a mere blink of our eyes!
Health Insurance is very essential nowadays...You can view my hub for more information about health insurance...
Rule #1: When the entire support for your argument starts with
"Some say..."
it's fairly apparent that there isn't much of an argument.

Many baby boomers seem to delight in accusing young people of being lazy, not willing to work hard etc. What these baby boomers fail to take into account or to realize is that they grew up and entered adulthood and the workforce when America was at its strongest economically and politically (ie....

If given the choice of hiring a 20 something or a 40 something, who has the advantages? I recall a boss who did not want me to hire the "old lady" - ironically I fought for her and it turned out she had the exact same birthday-month, date and YEAR of my boss who made that...
