Hmmm I dont know since my wife is 1 year older than me big_smile

But if I were to guess women mature more than man big_smile  Also younger means more energy and probably want that energy to rub of to them.

Also the beauty of a young person is more radiant and beauty always attract but bottom line it would be attitude that will hold or break a relationship big_smile

    Just my opinion

Older men may want women who will keep them young and also offer a physical relationship. A younger woman attracts attention and may make him feel like he has made a conquest and shown his virility. She makes him look good in the eyes of others. Some men may think of her as a trophy, but that is not true of all men. Many men may merely fall in love or are attracted to younger women and marry for all the right reasons. What the exact reason for each relationship still remains a mystery, but it is fun to guess.

Good question. And it can be frustrating the older we get in the dating world.

A part of it has to do with machismo and ego. I agree with brakel2, it's like a trophy and proof of their virility.

as an older man... i find older women to be too mean to spend and real time with. too negative, and too pushy. what's wrong with being happy?

My guess is that the older men are not getting what they need or want at home. Perhaps their wives, who are as old as they are, are no longer interested in the physical activities they once engaged in when they were younger. This, in my opinion, is a major reason.

The most important reason is to forget about their age, since they can do nothing about their age, they try to prove to themselves and to others that it does not matter how old they are, they can still be young from inside and being with younger women is the proof.

As it is said marriage in old age with a young lady is helpful because these young ladies proves themselves as good nurses.

You disrespect your wife. I am a woman, and I know women. Many young women talk about how disgusting their old guys are but bear it in order to get the royalties. Old guys usually do not care that the girls pretend. Mid-life crises, I think!

Well, for starters young women are more attractive compared to the older ones. People's value are affected by the perception of beauty. That's how it happens.

Because we as humans have some needs. We need to feel safe and an older man who may have a lot of money can fill out that need. And his need may be beauty or something in that direction and she can fill outthat need. So even though it may seem wierd to see such a big difference in age. It's just some needs we crave.

That's a tough one! I suppose it may be that the younger woman makes the older man feel more validated if she finds him attractive?
Or, alternatively it may be something on a more subconcious level, our biological systems are built very differently.
For example a woman is born with her eggs so they age along with her, women in their 40's will have more trouble conceiving than a woman in her 20's.
Whereas men are not born with x amount of sperm cells, it is something their bodies make, a man in his 20's can make as many babies as he would in his 60's (if he's fertile anyway). So perhaps pro-creation is why older men seek out younger women.
I personally am with a man who is over a decade older than me and we have been in a relationship for a very long time. I liked him from the word go because he is on my level intellectually. Had I met him when he was 21 I probably wouldn't have taken a second glance, but that's me.
The other question here is why do younger women stay with significantly older men? Some women will balk and say "money". In my opinion, they're better lovers. I hope this somewhat helps!

Simple, no reasonable man, would want to date, a woman old enough to be his mum, yuck!!!!

Funny enough I have always been attracted to men a bit younger than myself (but I am talking 3-5 years) and my husband is 3 years younger than me.
I think as people get older they either grow old graciously or somewhere they rebel against aging and dying one day.  Being with a much younger woman (or man) maybe a way of hanging on to youth and pretending we are free from death too!

No idea.  I would think that a younger woman would be boring as they wouldn't be on the same level in terms of life experience.

I've had this question myself for a long time.

Why do women strive to look younger? (creams, lotions, botox injections, plastic surgery...etc). Why do significantly younger women date or marry older men? Clearly there must be something in it for both sides.

I suspect the majority of men and women believe being younger is better than being older in many respects. It's too bad we don't have the wisdom that only comes with age.

Younger people tend to be in better shape physically and more "positive" about life in general. Their sex drives are usually higher. Traditionally men have always sought the most beautiful woman they could have and women sought men for financial security. The majority of men were taught early on if they became $UCCE$$FUL they could "have any woman they wanted". Quite a few women were taught if they kept their beauty up they could find a man who would "take care of them". Not long ago I heard a young cashier tell her co-worker she was looking for a man to "pay her bills". Basically she saw men as human ATMs. However some people are fine with that exchange or arrangement. These men know the younger women aren't with them because they look like studs.

Today a lot of things have changed. With the advent of better paying jobs for women you are starting to see an increase of older women dating and marrying younger men.
However there is no female equivalent to Hugh Hefner ( No 84 year old woman dating 24 year old men). Given a choice between women with beauty and those with wealth, most men are still attracted to physical attributes.

Lastly we have the "Baby Boomers" aka the generation that refuses to grow old. lol! In fact AARP membership has taken a nose dive. This group of people are unlinke previous generations are refusing to embrace getting older. They expect to remain youthful. The women hate being called "mam" especially by younger women. The men are looking for ways to keep their hair and both sexes are in the gym on a regular basis. Some of them refuse to let their grand-children call them grandma or grandpa. Some people even claim that spending time around younger people makes them feel younger. Others truly belive age is just a number!

older men would go for younger women because no offense to older women but I worked at bingo and they would say this all the time younger women would hardly argue with the older women, and they would be able to control them as well, not only that but the idiots who would prefer younger women they would say that they would look better and are more stupid I never understood it either, but that is what they would say. But to me I would prefer that both types of women can do pretty much anything and that the men should go for there inner person not there outer. I hope this helps. Brakel2 has a good answer as well.

Occasionally there may genuinely be love involved but if the age gap is massive then I'm not convinced.  I guess many older men are insecure and the only thing that makes them feel good is having a good looking younger woman around.  If they're both happy then fair enough.

I guess a rich old bloke can buy whatever he wants so both people are getting what they want - she gets a sugar daddy and he gets his ego massaged enough to fool himself he's still young and desirable.

When I was in my 20's I had rich older guys hit on me but they were shallow, self centred and boring.  I've always preferred blokes my own age who I have more in common with.

Any man worth being with will want to be with a whole woman, whatever her age, if they're only interested in your age or appearance then they're not worth the time of day.

But then who are we to judge?

    Have a fun day!

easier to get for if you have money and younger women want money then that all it take and you can have as many you want but end the end if he married it WILL BE WITH A REAL WOMAN. and she not going to want to put up with seeing as many women as he want and she won't be way younger than him  woman, unless he a fool.

My mother and father have asked me that question many times. They have long ago given up on the idea of grandchildren... lol.
For myself I am an expat and live in places where it is far more accepted.
But it is mostly because of accessibility, I rarely meet older women.
I have dated a few and I will give some reasons why I set my marks to between 25-35, I am 57. I am pretty loose on the lower range, not so much on the upper.
I have been married 1 time, she was 33 and I was 54 it only lasted 1 year but it didn't end for any reason related to age.
I was with the same woman for 27 years, never wanted to marry, she was my age.
Every older woman I've dated had way too much baggage. We all have it but men tend not to share it while women stack it on the table.
Most women I meet in the upper range have children and I don't have any such desire, I reached this age childless for a reason not because of dumb luck.
Younger women aren't as demanding and seldom nag at you.
My parents ask how I could have anything in common with a much younger woman. I live in outside the US so I don't have anything in common with women of any age, so it doesn't matter.
Younger women are just more fun, they don't tend to be set in their ways and are more adaptive.
    Well that is my take.
BTW Lord Enki; you might want to review your math. Were you really married at the age of 3?

Men don't act their age is what I have seen. And I also think that they don't use the mirror as we women. We know how we look and we care for it.

Older men go for very young women because they are youthful, something the old guys are not. Old men feel revived and excited at having young women pretending to like them.

I wonder if these old guys would approve of an old man marrying their young daughter.

Its maybe because the older man enjoys the company of a attractive younger woman.  Some of the younger woman are very attractive.  Some eccentric and already wealthy.   Pastor Lisa Scott, married Pastor Scott a few years ago before passing away.  He was near 75 or older, Melissa was in her late tw enties.  They both were attracted to each other and had language and religion in common.

I think we may perhaps be in denial psychologically; significantly uncomfortable with our aging and once again trying to use our "power" to increase what we consider the best part of existence, our 20s and 30s. Society has a way of placing great value on being young...
