   if somebody asked for $5 to help them out would you do it without question?
   
   In the world today little things can make a differance. Like giving a small amount of money to someone who has fallen on hard time. If someone asked you to give them $5 without question would you do it? or would you say no? or would you counteroffer with what you could spare?
   It's sometimes easier to help someone using the masses, (if 1000 people give someone $5 they would then have $5000 to help them out , rather then having to ask for $5000 from one )
   Just a question.

   It depends on what they need it for because some peoploe would use it to mess up their health and I'm not going to help them do that!

   It depends on if they actually need it, or if they want it because they didn't manage their own money well enough when they had it. Many of my neighbors have dropped by to ask for a few dollars, ingredients for a meal, or a bit of dog food to tide them over, and these I always give without question because most of them are disabled, single parents, or otherwise in really rough circumstances. On the other hand, there are people I know who are able to work but don't even try to find a job, or spend indiscriminately and then try to fall back on the goodwill of others to make up for their bad decisions. In these cases I think giving someone money is only exacerbating the problem and allowing them to be dependent when they would otherwise have to learn independence. As for strangers, it's hard to say because I don't meet many of them (this is a pretty small town), but if I don't know someone's financial circumstances then I'm much more comfortable giving them food, a ride to an appointment, help with things (auto repair, cleaning, etc.), or other non-monetary ways to help because then I know it really is helping and not just allowing someone to continue in an unhealthy or destructive path. What someone does with their own life and body is their own business, but that doesn't mean I want to contribute to it.

   If someone told me that giving them five dollars would make a difference for them, I would probably give them ten at least. I'm a socialist, I like giving especially if I know that my contribution is making a difference. For me that is the best feeling: to help someone. I actually feel good about it like "I did something that mattered".
