    Hi Choke Frantic,

I do not know enough in order to list the pros and cons of Kontera. What I can say for sure is that (so far) I am not impressed with the $$ (cents, in fact) in my account. On the other hand, it can't hurt to sign up. It might be that my articles are not good for Kontera advertising. It might work great for you. Give it a try. Good luck.

Do a hub and forum search at the top on "Kontera."  There have been many of each on HubPages.  You'll find lots of pros and cons to Kontera according to who you read comments from.  I have no feeling either way but I guess that it doesn't hurt.

Kontera links your text.  For me I do a lot of that myself.  In your "Text Edit" highlight a desired word or phrase and then click the "Link" icon.  You will then be prompted to plug in the desired link for what has been highlighted.  After doing so  hit "Accept."  That's it!  Your linked.

I actually like this better because it gives a sense of more ownership of the structure of your hub.

Kontera works best for high traffic websites.  Generally I don't use Kontera on most of my hubs.

I've had Kontera on a few high traffic hubs for over a year and just received my first payout from them.

I will use Kontera on my hubs in the following instances:
    - if I write a quick hub about a popular topic that's likely to have a LOT of traffic
    - if I have a hub that's got quite a lot of traffic and it's not earning me much in adsense

Generally though, for most people, I don't believe it produces much of an income.  I remove it so there's less clutter on my hub, hoping people will spot the adsense ads instead smile

    Hi Choke Frantic,

This is Jonathan from Kontera, I'd be happy to tell you a little bit more about our company.

(First, wvierra - I figured out what your problem was. If you don't get the e-mail I sent to your yahoo address, please let me know.)

In terms of an overview, Kontera is the leading In-Text network with over 15,000 publishers and 140 million unique users per month.

What makes Kontera so effective for so many people is our Synapse engine, an algorithm that rather than just scanning for keywords, can read your Hubs for actual meaning. This added ability of Topical Targeting is how we provide you with the most relevant ads to your content, leading to higher CTR and better CPC.

Regarding earner's comments, results very based on the scale of your traffic so while more popular Hubs will generate more ad clicks, you'll still have proportional success on less frequented Hubs. Because AdSense and Kontera are displayed in completely different parts of a webpage, they don't cannibalize each other's ad clicks, and we've found Kontera will only act as an additional revenue stream for you.

Another advantage of Kontera is our exclusive ad inventory. We work directly with some of the biggest brand names in the world including Microsoft, L'Oreal, Kraft, Ford, Quaker, Blackberry, National Geographic, and more. These premium, often Rich-Media ads are the most eye catching to site visitors, offer the best possible CPC, and are only available through Kontera.

Lastly, we offer new publishers a 70% revenue share which is the best rate in the industry, offer new publishers who get at least 25,000 U.S. page views during their first 30 days a $50 bonus, and have a low $50 minimum payment threshold, applicable across all payment methods.

    Thanks,

    - Jonathan Cohen
