I've used both Mailchimp and Aweber recently. These are two quite big players in the list markets. While I liked a lot of the features of mailchimp I have to say that I found Aweber far easier to use and get up and running.

The servers they use also seem quicker and more responsive which was another irritation with mailchimp.

Aweber is the standard now. You can also try sendloop.com and compare the features.

A good auto responder is important but even more focus should be placed on your email marketing strategies ... you can get some good ideas for it at this web site here: http://newstartdot.com/affil/em/cap.html

I think the consensus is Aweber.  Just remember email marketing still takes an active part on the business owner!  smile

There are some ESPs that will allow you to use their software for free, if you are strating to build a list from scratch. With Benchmark Email, you can sign up for their Free Edition. That allows you to place a sign up box on your website, Facebook, etc. to begin building your email list. Why not use one of the best services available, for free?
