If you want to use free version I will go for blogger as it allows you to use ads to get income. But Wordpress is good if you do own hosting.
I love wordpress, so much more control and functionality in my opinion.
If you go for the free version, it depends on what you want to use it for.
Wordpress had more problems with customization. The control board was hard to use. If you can figure out the control board, you can have more control of your look, font etcetera but it is not easy to use. But you did have a built in way to reach out to others. I had difficulty withe comments section not working correctly. I've heard the pay version doesn't have these issues.
Blogger--very easy to customize, very easy to use. But it does not have the built in community. Plus its harder to manage multiple blogs. Easier to do adsense. Harder to convert to a .com.
Blogger is more suitable for a beginner as there is not much one has to do except writing blog posts.
Wordpress is an advanced blogging platform, there are a number of customization options and tricks, which is more useful for an advanced blogger who needs more control over his/her blog.
Another important thing is monetizing a blog, we can easily add Google Adsense ads on a blog hosted by blogger, it automatically places links at appropriate place around posts, even colors are also set to match background.
It is a personal choice, there are successful bloggers on both these platforms, although most bloggers prefer wordpress.

I am not too keen on Wordpress. It looks pretty and clen but the advertising options are limited. I use blogger because it's easier to use and gives me freedom with Adsense, but I really hate the limited templates. I am thinking of going domain and website for my recipes. What are your thoughts?...

Which is better: Blogger or Wordpress?I currently have multiple Blogger blogs, but I'm getting a little frustrated with the limitations of the Blogger interface. I've heard people saying that wordpress is a better blogging platform. In your opinion, which is the best blogging platform?
