Will humanity ever coexist with itself and the environment it’s in?

Or will we always be suicidal, wasteful, and innately self-interested?

Yes, and No.  First, we already coexist by definition with the environment that we are in.  So Yes.  But will utopia ever come?  No, it won't.  The best we can hope for is sustainable use of resources.  This IS possible without undue economic hardship.  There are plenty of technologies that can give us clean and efficient energy.  The problem is socialist governments that reduce our ability to pay for these alternative energies.  Further some on the left do not want solutions as they make money off the problems.

Utopia is impossible I think. By nature animals tend to break off into communites, packs, groups, etc. Most other animals either stick to their own packs, or to themselves.
Humans differ from the other animals in the extremes we seek to stick in our "packs".
Where as most animals will just run out "undesireables", humans will often times seek to go further and inflict actual injury.
We as a species encompass such a broad range of levels between good and evil, this means that despite all the good one human can do, there is another that can do just as much bad.
No matter how many people who may be able to be "talked into sense" there will always be those who will seek to seclude, segragate, or out and out fight with others.
Hate is as intergal to human nature as love it seems, and this effects out interactions with our enviroment as well as with each other.

Obviously, under current situation we cannot co-exist peacefully.

When there is a shift in collective spiritual consciousnesses of all in this world we can achieve this. The haves are not interested in sharing with the have-nots. The have-nots do not have the same opportunities the haves have.  The haves always blame the have nots for not working hard. Yet they will pay some poor labor toiling for long hours below subsistence at $0.75/hr to make shoes and later these corporation sell this pair of shoes for $125.00 on the retail market. In the US health insurance companies are not interested in covering millions of people in the US. Furthermore they have lobbied against government assistance for these unfortunate ones. Every year about 45,000 people in the US die because of preventable diseases because they can't afford the profit-based health care system.. Millions more suffer in silence. Profits are more important to the wealthy even if it means death to the have nots.

Until the world can unite to resolve everybody's problems, we cannot co-exist peacefully. This can happen only if there is a spiritual shift in the collective consciousness of the world..

Society doesn't coexist with the environment.

We strip the environment and are very quickly destroying the very planet that sustains us.

I don't believe people will ever coexist with the environment because most people don't have a healthy respect for what the earth is and how its systems work.

By the time most people figure out what they should've been doing it will be too late.
