Is Zumba a scam?
Is the dance craze called Zumba a huge marketing scam?
Have you seen people doing this workout routine? I believe anyone who continues to stick with the exercises contained in this program will have no problem losing weight and achieving great results.
I think what she was saying was as an instructor not a student maybe?
It is fun, your heart rate is elevated, your moving and feeling the burn at times while targeting different areas, how can one not have some kind of result? I like it and I will do it and that is all that matters to me!
I don't think Zumba itself is a scam. It actually is quite a fun way to lose weight because your dancing and the moves aren't as rigid as some other exercise programs.
I DO think that the way it's marketed can be a scam. Do they really need to charge that high of a price for the dvds? Is it important to get all the zumba wear?
In any case, I think it's in that cash cow phase and so you have to watch out for all the people that will try to use it in a way that benefits them but leaves the customer wanting.
No - they don't intentionally deceive or mislead people.
It is just an exceptionally well marketed product IMO.
Zumba is not a marketing scam. Zumba is a fun, dance based exercise and the company knows it so it overcharges on everything in order to profit from it.
There are ways you can do Zumba while not lining the corporation's pockets.
Many Zumba instructors have posted their routines on youtube, so instead of buying the expensive DVD's you can work out for free with youtube.
The going rate in my area for Zumba classes seems to be around $10/lesson. However if you look around it is possible to find them being offered for as little as $5/lesson.
As far as what to wear, just any old exercise clothes are fine. My Zumba instructor is very frugal and will only buy discounted Zumba clothing that she finds on e-bay.
I officially cancelled my Zumba membership with the penalty of losing my license after over 4 years of faithfully paying my membership dues. It feels like a slap in my face from Zumba with treating their committed instructors like another stream of revenue to make money off of by providing insructors with little options for continuing education or ways to keep their license current aside from paying their monthly ZIN membership fee that Ive not benefited off of but continued to pay for years. Their Zumba Instructor teachers falsely advertise to and manipulate new instructors by giving them the wrong information about recertification options just to sell these Zin memberships. The shittiest customer service ever and worst certifying company ever.I dont recommend anyone in the fitness industry to consider Zumba in their fitness careers for the reason that they treat their instructors like a sales gain not caring about wanting them to succeed as Fitness Professionals unless they are profitting off of them
I just went to certification yesterday and love this exercise program but I've never! Been to such a pyramid scam push in my life. Zin network was mentioned over 100 times. Things like " you will not be able to teach without this" etc.
@sunny : Yup you end up paying close to 500 a year for this for the zin that you dont end up using if youre not using the discounts often or if you dont use the cds they mail you every other month for routines to copy.
