How does hubpages work that is different than other blogging sites?

I started making a hub before I knew what I was doing. I thought it was like each person was making a website, and that one article could link to the next one, but then found out I was not at all aware of the concept.

It seems to me that hubpages is more like a shopping mall, with each person having a hub, which is equal to a "store" where they can keep all their articles, links, friends, etc. Also, it seems if each "hubber" buys products from within hubpages, not from outside sources, it would have a huge long-range effect on global economy, as eventually, all people would be buying from

Interesting perspective you have.  I agree on a very limited basis.  We support each other but just not in a sense of "shopping".  We really support each other in everything.

The other sites you will note are limited in their training.  One site just opened up a training center very similar to Hub Pages.

Additionally, the technical support with HubPages is outstanding - writing to team@hubpages.com is always very responsive.  The capsules are simple to navigate and allow a professional looking Hub to be created in no time.  Copying a "master format" with the capsules you always use such as a news capsule at the end after comment along with a links capsule can simplify the process and allow the writer to concentrate upon the writing.

Oh, and the photos are another method HubPages is better - your photos are stored.

The forums offer a world of help complete with a specialized forum just for critiques.

The benefits of HubPages have it poised to be a site that even Google is envious of.  If you compare page rank among the other sites, you will see for content, HubPages adhere to high standards of quality.

HubPages is better than pen pals and for me has proven to be the best business partner.  It is a money maker IF you wish.  It is a site with lasting friendships, it is a training vehicle for promoting yourself and your website on the Internet.  It is not really free, the time commitment is demanding.

    Persistence pays.

In my opinion HubPages is not true 'blogging', it is a publishing site.  Blogs are sites that you update on a regular basis but Hubpages is a platform for publishing separate articles that can 'stand alone' or be linked together so that they become a series.
I also agree with the info in GmaGoldie's reply :-)
HubPage is the best Publishing site that I have found.

I agree with agvulpes. HubPages is an article publishing site, not a blogging site. Unfortunately a lot of folks abouse it for advertising or other purposes, but its original intention is as a place for freelance writers to share articles.  I do not recommend blogging on this site. It degrades the reputation of the site. If blogging is what you want to do, I suggest using Blogger or Wordpress.
