    Hi,

    No.  He was a Rumanian prince with a huge ego and  with a very evil heart. Read some of the hubs that writers have here it will give you a good insight.

    No. He was probably insane, and he might have thought he was superhuman, but he was subject to all the same laws of nature as you.

      Would you consider Vlad the Impaler insane even if you would live in Europe 600 year ago? Crimean Tatar raiders enslaved more than 1 million people just about 100 years before Vlad. Those crimes were common in that time

    No, he was just a prince fighting for his country.

    When he started his rule, Wallachia was in a very bad shape: violent crimes all over the place, everything destroyed by many years of war, with a poor agriculture and no commerce. He took strong measures against all of this and he was loved by the people. He allied with the Pope for a new Crusade against the Ottomans and he killed the Turks that came to collect the tribute from his country.

    The Sultan sent a small army to eliminate him and he attacked and destroyed this army. He impaled all the survivors (this was not something that he invented, but was a custom in the Ottoman Empire). In response, the Sultan raised an army of 100 000 people against him. Vlad defeated the Turks and his victory was celebrated by the Pope himself.

    He had sadistic pleasure in torturing and killing his enemies, but today we might use different standards for morality.
